CHR's in New Hampshire

I have had a chance to listen to CHR's in New Hampshire and enjoyed all of them. Mix 94.1 plays some songs you don't hear on most CHR's like last year they were the only CHR in this area that played Troublemaker by Weezer that I'm aware of. CYY played it a lot but never WJBQ or Kiss 95.3. Then 1055 JYY is quite good with its imaging and music. (Continuing Later)

(Don't know how to edit my first post so I'm posting a second post.)
103.1 a translator of WZID's HD-2 playing Hot Hits NH is okay but nothing spectacular since they are satellite run. They also don't really have a big broadcast area if you don't have HD Radio. The final CHR I'm aware of in NH is WXXS Kiss 102.3. I was able to listen to it when I traveled to the White Mountains a few years ago and really enjoyed it but I thought of it as similar to Kiss 108 of Boston with being named Kiss and call letters close to WXKS. What opinion does everyone else have on these stations?

FTN is a bit hokey sometimes but it's a local station serving their community really well. Musically I think they get their programming from John Garabedien's satellite service during non local hours and probably take their logs. Might be why they play some cuts others around don't.

JYY is programmed locally I think if not from NJ corporate. From what I've heard when in the market, the production value is high. Localism is lacking. CHR juke box when I listened in the spring.

103.1 I have not given much attention but it's satellite and nationally programmed. Yawn.

LNH in the lakes region is more of an AC...

KNE in Keene I would label as a Hot AC and not really a CHR.

Never been up far enough north to listen to XXS.

What about 107.1 on the coast. Is that still ERZ? I remember that as a pretty good CHR a couple of years ago. I know that WHOB is Gone in Nashua but they were good even when they had Mike Morin and Jack Baldwin.

What about the Upper Valley? GXL?

WERZ is Hot AC now. Kiss 95.3 is the CHR in the area now.

CHR's in Maine

Never been up to Hanover, NH to listen to WGXL. But yeah WERZ is Hot AC now and hasn't been a CHR for a while.

Not sure if I should make another thread for Maine CHR's but I figured this would be good enough. What does everyone think of Maine CHR's? I enjoyed the 3 I've listened to over the years. 92 Moose seems to be kind of Adult leaning CHR because of the Hot AC songs they play like Shattered by OAR since Q97.9 never touched it. Still I enjoy their imaging and slogans. I listen every time I go north of Portland. Since I live in Southern Maine I've had years of listening to WJBQ and I have to say I enjoy it the best. The music, personalities, imaging just makes it an overall great station. The other Maine CHR I've heard is 107.3 WBZN by online streaming and it seemed pretty well put together. The music seems almost identical to WJBQ. Never got the chance to hear WRED before they were Rhythmic though. Anyone here use to listen when it was CHR?

I tried to listen to 102.9 WCRQ online but found out they didn't stream. How do they sound musically?

You haven't missed much. A jockless jukebox. Not uncommon to segue from a song right into a commercial then back to a song with no imaging. No online presence that I'm aware of.
They do seem to be a lot more current these days, a couple years ago they sounded like they were stuck in 1998 still playing old Britney, boy bands, etc. Not really a full-blown CHR, but more than Hot Ac.

WGXL is mostly a Hot-AC now... they run some local stuff... John Tesh is on in PM Drive and Billy Bush after that. Nothing really special.

FTN 94.1 does not use Garabidien's music logs. Gary Ford is the music director and he pretty much just plays the whole top 40 chart, which is not a bad idea. They are still live from 6am-6pm too, which is unheard of these days in that par of NH. Some local weekend shifts too!

I've been impressed with FTN's ability to stay live 6-6 and their commitment to localism. Jocks are not great (although I understand Fred Caruso did a live broadcast from the manger when Jesus was born!) but they are good. I heard Fred's show one morning and Eric Scott who seemed to both be solid.
