CHRS Live! At KRE 2006 (July 15)

Be sure to mark your calendar for Saturday, July 15 -- it's the Bay Area's biggest radio event of the year -- Live At KRE 2006, presented by the California Historical Radio Society.

http://www.californiahistoricalradio.com/photos66.html

If you've ever wondered what's inside the old KRE studio building off Ashby Avenue in Berkeley -- you know the one, underneath the big radio tower by the freeway -- here's your chance!

Bay Area radio legend Carter B. Smith will be our host for a day of radio fun, including the local chapter of the Broadcast Legends (www.broadcastlegends.com), live bands, vintage equipment auctions and guided tours of the remarkable KRE facility, which CHRS is renovating into not only a radio museum, but into working order as a broadcast and recording studio.

CHRS has one of the most outstanding collections of vintage broadcast equipment -- including receivers that date back to the early 20th Century, amateur equipment and classic radio station consoles -- much of which will be on display on July 15.

Refreshments will be served. Come early and stay all day!

WHAT: CHRS Live! At KRE 2006
WHEN: Saturday, July 15, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
WHERE: KRE Radio, Ashby Avenue at Shellmound, near Aquatic Park, Berkeley (under the big radio tower).
COST: Free admission.

Please note that I made one major error in the previous post -- Admission is $5 for adults, children under 12 are free.

Just to add...

If you're into such things, there will also be some *incredible* old radios up for sale and auction during the event. You can have a look at what radios will be available, along with directions and more info, at:

http://www.californiahistoricalradio.com/photos66.html

Download the event flyer at http://www.bayarearadio.org/hof/KRE_Live_Info.pdf

Gourmet sausages from Aidells and coffee and tea from Peet's will be served along with other refreshments.

I'll be at the Bay Area Radio Museum "booth" all day. Stop by and said "howdy-hey."
