Chuck Berry

Chuck Berry had a single of Reelin' & Rockin' in 1973...anyone know where I can secure an mp3 copy of that one? The album version is easy to find, but I need the shorter single version. If you have a copy, please PM me. If you know of a source where I can purchase it, please post it here. Thanks!

I have Reelin' And Rockin' on single (7" 45rpm), it's the B side of Sweet Little Sixteen, Chess 1683. (Goldmine lists it as 1958, not 1973.) I haven't timed it yet, but if you want an MP3 copy, shoot me a pm and I'll be glad to oblige.

That would be the original version. I believe BobOnTheJob is looking for the 1972 single version of the track from the London Chuck Berry Sessions album.

I have the 45 but it has scratches & a cue burn on it. Looking for a cleaner copy. And yes, it is from the live sessions album that was mentioned. Came out shortly after My Ding A Ling did.

It looks like the 45 could be at that website I posted above. You will have to copy the URL and paste it to your browser.

PS:.......If you haven't heard Chuck Berry lately, save your money. he shows up no rehearsal, no band, goes thru the motions, and he is healthy. Little Richard can barely walk, has to be helped on stage ...will give 1,000%.

I've got tickets to see Chuck in Milwaukee on Feb. 18th. He doesn't tour much anymore, and at his age I don't expect much of a show. But the guy's a legend, so I feel it was worth the price of a ticket. Little Richard puts on a great show, but he does chatter a lot. I have no problem with that. He's a legend also.

This, CB fans, IS Chuck Berry, he’s done this for years.

He drives himself to the venue and usually shows long after the warmup band finishes. He doesn’t rehearse (on the road), he hires local pickup musicians whenever possible and most often when he gets on stage he tells the band “follow me” and he does a guitar intro – if the backup musicians are any good they pick it up. He demands payment in cash before he goes on and pays the backup musicians the same way.

Moody, abrupt, demanding, and talented beyond words. CB is old, but he hasn’t lost his talent and guitar skills, and he can still excite the crowd to a fever pitch, one merely needs to catch him on a good day.

Very true. He did this at an Oldies concert near Cincinnati several years ago. Drove up, wanted to see the cash, did his gig and rolled out the door. Not much chat or staying around for interviews.

Makes me wonder why he still wants to tour. He can't need the money. And if he needs that "audience fix" he has a running gig at a club in St. Louis, close to home.

Talented and successful musicians seldom, if ever, lose the urge to perform in front of adoring audiences. It’s in their blood and a major part of their life, and God bless them while they still have the ability to perform.

Look around and see the likes of [in addition to] Chuck Berry; Bobby Vinton, Barbra Streisand, Ray Price, Paul Anka, John Fogerty, Roger Daltrey, Pete Townshend, Keith Richards, Mick Jagger, plus many, many more.

You really think that Dion can still sing? With all due respect I've seen him a few times in person & on TV and I sure didn't think so. He was completely carried by his young back up singers when I saw him.
Agree with you on Martha Reeves. She lost her voice at least 15 years ago.

Dion just released a CD (set 2008) called) Heroes:Giants of Rock and Roll ..listen to cuts on Amazon.com sample section...he sounds pretty good....Dion was never a Jimmy Beamont or Jay Black when It came to great Lead Vocalists....and he was always recorded heavy with Belmonts or De-Satins.....I think he stills sounds up to par with his original sound. You are right my video of Dion In Concert (circa 2005) is also heavy laden with back-up, thats the style of Dion and the Belmonts.........of course I am listening with prejudiced ears(big fan of Dion)...You may have heard something, I didn't want to hear
