Chuck Powell

I stole this from Dr. Akbar, but until I see a '73 Levis Gremlin lurking at my front door, I won't worry about retribution....

Since the good Dr. posted this on another thread and it kind of got lost there, what happened to Chuck Powell at K'TR? The obvious answer is he got blown out, but anyone have details? I still mist Chuck and Vince's partnership on-air...

'73 Gremlin? That's ancient AMC technology! Our ride is a 1976 Gremlin Levi's Special. And trust Los Buckeye Boyz, anything made in Kenosha, WI is more than special!

Here's what All Access had to say about the "promotion" of Chuck Powell to the digital side (and be sure to read all the comments):

Chuck and Karie Dozer-Here sounded best when she was away and Chuck had a co-host who didn't dominate the conversation or chortled at everything he said. But what do the Middle Eastern Men of the Media know about TMISU and how they run KTweetAR? In the words of the classic 1970 Edwin Starr hit....absolutely nothin' (good gawd, y'all) ;)

I've always enjoyed Chuck in the past but was never a fan of this show with Karie. He is a leader in the booth and should be allowed to control the conversation a little more than he did on this effort. Also, the program was too safe. There was never really a hard line opinion, just beating around a bunch of topics and never really diving into it. Kind of boring to me. Talk radio isn't supposed to be safe.

92.3's broadcast day (which ends at 7pm) is essentially The Real Housewives of Phoenix with rotating male co-hosts. Bonneville needs to snag Tim & Willy - their fill-in last week was great - and maybe revisit "The Morning Ritual" - the "Evening" Ritual instead of Ramsey? - now that Chuck & Vincent are under the same roof again.

Ramsey is likely paying for play. At the very least, paying for KTAR marketing around town & possibly a rev share of any events when he comes to the market. He's not likely going anywhere.

Ramsey's nightly advice is always the same...."Get yourself an old beater & deliver pizzas"

There is ONE show with a female host. I have no idea where you come up with this "essentially" malarky. Tim and Will are ALREADY under contract with Bonneville… and Vince and Chuck have been in the same building (again) for almost two years now.

Glad you asked that, because I have a perfect example for what you call "malarkey." Their afternoon newsreader was basically a co-host today for their fill-in, just as she's pretty much the chaperone for Dumb & Dumber's "Fact or Fiction" most afternoons, which of course listeners can't play. So, you are correct they have ONE show with a female host. I would, however, submit that my observation is correct based upon what I'm hearing. You make it sound like 92.3 is more Glengarry Glenn Ross - the radio equivalent of Spike TV, as it were - when all I ever hear is Real Housewives banter. I also came up with this "malarkey," as you say, based upon the female co-hosts who magically accompany Jay and Dr. Sam on the weekends for one or two shows, never to be heard from again. So, again, I know what I hear on 92.3 of late, and yes, I know Tim & Willy are ALREADY under contract - enough caps? - the point of my comment was they needed to be "ON AIR" more often. Needless to say, I don't think that highly of 92.3's programming decisions of late.

Oh, and there's also the pervasive "Claiming To Speak For The Audience" attitude that characterizes their afternoon show vis a vis "social issues." That's not necessarily what the audience thinks. It's only what some producer saw on Facebook or Twitter (since Dumb & Dumber are the only ones to open the lines to listener calls anymore) and decided would be the talking points for the day. I simply don't care what Kari thinks about any social or economic issues. At all. Who on earth decided Kari's Daily Soapbox would make for Good Radio? Fingernails metal fork on a chalkboard.

tell your car insurance company that you are now delivering pizzas and see what happens to your rates.

Good one....bet that doesn't get by the screeners at Financial Peace Plaza! And here's another one...all those tips need to be reported to the IRS as income.

::) Yea, right.

I'm betting most pizza delivery guys probably don't have any insurance to begin with. LOL
....Or you can sell some gold to one of Dave's sponsors.
