Chuck Todd likely to replace David Gregory on 'Meet the Press'

No, I was attempting to provide a service to my fellow participants by putting the information in a thread with a clear and unambiguous title, instead of a cryptic click bait title that makes no sense.

Sorry, I'll try to make my headlines simpler so you can follow them. By the way, from which school of journalism did you graduate?

Why, exactly, did you start a new thread at all rather than post the information in the thread already dedicated to Gregory's departure from Meet the Press?

Re the roundtable concept: it was ABC that started it when "Issues And Answers" became "This Week With David Brinkley" and Brinkley was joined by Sam Donaldson, George Will, and (later) Cokie Roberts. TV is a copycat medium, and because the format worked so well (ABC had the number-one Sunday interview program during the Brinkley years), CBS and NBC naturally had to follow suit. It is a long way from the "press conference of the air," as "Meet The Press" used to call itself; there was a time when these programs were treated as news events and a statement by a guest on any of them could end up on page one of Monday's newspapers. But yes, it does seem that a lot of times the guest takes a backseat to the reporters these days.

OK, fair question.

(1) Duplicate threads do not violate the TOS of this board. Attempting to derail threads with comments on "duplication" seemingly might.
(2) Because threads get long and cluttered with various topics, sub-topics, tangents and updates. The Keep It Simple Rule applies.
(3) Because both my threads dealt with distinct, albeit related, issues. One was about Gregory getting fired (as opposed to speculation at the time on who might be the new host). The other was about Gregory taking a pay-off for his silence.

Lots of threads here I consider pointless. I ignore them. I don't obsess about them or try to derail them with complaints.
