WMXZ (Mix 95.9) has segued into the all new Mix 96. The Hot AC is gone & they're taking it to 95SX. I'm sure the change to 96 was for diary purposes (write down 95._ and SX gets the credit). Also a nice nod back to the olden days when you "rounded up" your dial position if you were on .7 or .9 (or the rare .5 a la the former Rock 105 in Jacksonville). Also it seems that Y102.5 has slid right into the spot vacated by 95.9 (best of the 90's, 2K & today).
Now we await 98Rock's transmitter move to the WCBD STL tower. I wish they could keep at least 25k at 653" instead of 23k (I still fear Summer mornings are going to crush that signal), but on paper, they'll cover more ground. I presume 105.5 will remain where they are, and no need to move as they do a good job right where they are. So when will one of the three country outlets throw in the towel? Will the translator at 105.1 go live...and what will it play? How about Walterboro's 93.7...it's been bought by their local Telco, but no news as to what will become of it.
How will News 2's new set look? Any new toys, especially in the weather department? I see Live 5 is following suit with a studio redesign as well. Glad to see local media getting interesting!
