Chunky has debuted on Wired 96.5. New morning show sounds refreshing & new. He is playing an average joe they thought was funny who worked at "Pats" King of Cheesesteaks in Philly. GOod stuff

Wow...original....reminds me of the stunt they did when Wired signed on a few years back with Ben Maxwell playing the janitor who 'hijacked' the station and was playing all his favorite music...

Originality is dead...

that was over 10 years ago probably when the station first started out and it was a HUGE stunt and put the station on and worked. people are so negative.

Why not be real with the audience? Why do they have to do "schtick?" I listened yesterday and they said they hired the co host girl from the sales team. Really? How are listeners supposed to trust that radio station if they are lying to the audience from the beginning? This reeks of 1988 radio to me. Might as well play Simpsons drops after each sentence, give the time backwards and forwards & hit the snare drum and cowbell for good measure. File under "wacky zany zoo."

That "sales girl" is a radio pro named Ghia who started out as an intern at Z100. They should just be honest

It's less about negativity and more about the above mentioned schtick. Most people who read these boards are either current or former radio people or people who know better than to believe that Dan Hunt would just hire some random South Philly guy who works at Pat's to do a major market morning show. If that were really the case, the story wouldn't be about Chunky, but more about how Dan Hunt and Beasley could make such a careless and uninformed decision to hire a random nobody.

Either way I think 'Hi, I'm Chunky. I just moved here from San Diego amd I'm your new morning show host...' would go over just as well....
