Chunky

I think a return back to KRock would be nice. Get rid of Seacrest put TicTac into Z it'd b ok. In fact get rid of all syndicated programming nationally! Bring jobs back.

Mikey and Bob are indeed funny as always. As for me Tictak I am hosting the afternoon show on NOW and we have a very very limited time we can talk each hour and we never stop the music so my approach is what management dictates. In philly there was really no restrictions, but to get ratings ,which we did. The Freakshow really had fun and made magic happen at Q102. Here at Now essentially.....don't stop the music......talk less than 20 secs into stopset dont talk over the end of a record and play the hits is the game plan. Nice steady cume increases and we will see where it goes. I have to run as I have to plan for my 3 breaks a hour. (hahhaha)

the freakshow at Q102 was nothing but a howard stern wanna be show except at night

I miss the Q102 Freak Show, it was real interactive radio. I didn't just tune to Q102 for the music, I listened for the entertainment. Same thing with Chunky, he offered more than just announcing the songs and upcoming contests. Sure, Chunky did sometimes make some off-color jokes, and initially he sounded like a terrible jock to me, but he got better. The new night show on 92.3 is the same ol' style as the rest of the jocks and the other stations.

I wonder why Chunky left without another radio job in hand. Market 1 is the peak of a radio career. It would be awesome if he joined the Chio in the Morning show on Wired 96.5, replacing Zann's old position.

I hate to be the naysayer, but let's face the unfortunate reality here.

Chunky's departure is another "writing on the wall" for 92.3 Now. I LOVE the station, don't get me wrong, but with ESPN on 98.7, it's just a matter of time. And CBS Radio is not going to flip WCBS and WWFS into the new WFAN-FM since they both bill better. Yeah, a dance station would be nice and I'm sure for XCountry285, bringing back K-Rock would be satisfactory. I'm just looking at where FM is going and for those under 30, Z-100 and perhaps Hot 97 will be the ONLY TWO stations that cater to the audience in a couple of years. Other than that, embrace the spoken word. :( Corporate did that.

Chunky didn't leave on his own, he was let go. Nature of the biz...even in Market 1 :(

The new program director changed so many things I liked about 92.3 Now. The songs aren't sped up anymore, there are many more recurrents played, the weekday mixshows are shorter, the DJs aren't interacting with the audience as much on the air, and I'm sure Chunky was let go because his style didn't fit the new sound of Now. Chunky said some pretty risque things during his tenure at Now, yet he kept his job.

Don't leave out WCBS 101.1 and LiteFM. They will also remain a music channel. ;D

He did say "for those under 30". Granted, I'm under 30 and am a CBS-FM P1, but I've accepted that I'm in the minority. :)

Best wishes to Chunky... he took a while to grow on me, but eventually became a reason for me to listen to 92.3 even though I didn't care for most of the music.

Hopefully KTU can be included on that list as well ;D

Let me clarify.....

The stations that target an audience OVER the age of 30 will not be affected since those are the numbers that advertisers want. Therefore, CBS-FM, Lite-FM, Fresh 102.7, 'KTU, Q-104, WPLJ will be okay since there are older folks that still listen to radio. The ONLY stations under 30 that would remain are Z-100 and PERHAPS Hot 97 (depending on Emmis' finances). I could see Power 105.1 flipping to a spoken word format, perhaps "urban talk".

Other than that, for those under 30, radio won't really serve a purpose anymore.
