Chunky's Cold Comment

Based on the 92.3 Now FB page, Chunky's "comical" yet cold comment regarding Amanda Cummings seemed to heat people not to mention no apology was issued right after. Instead, the comment was deleted and they block listeners from commenting. So who wants some disciplinary action to happen?

Maybe karma can get Chunky. Nick Cannon made a sick joke about tying helium balloons to a dog and releasing it on November 10.

If someone is offended by this, I suggest they jump in front of a bus themselves. Or put on WLTW if they don't want to hear the occasional "WTF?" joke. Too soon? Perhaps, but there are many more injustices going on right now that what a DJ says before playing "It Will Rain" for the 30th time that day.

Right. It's not the first time Chunky left us a bad taste in our mouths. However if this was true and if someone else at another radio station or at another job did this stunt, intentional or not, rest assure that individual will at least be forced a public apology. Just saying. And please Turnpike Tuner don't suggest that. I can't afford to run someone over with the bus I'm driving.

So long as nobody was physically harmed and no FCC rule was broken...anyone who is offended should JUST TURN IT OFF. Why should a radio station have to waste time by making a public "apology" that in and of itself is utterly useless? Why do people even bother making a complaint? Do they think Chunky actually cares about their concerns or feelings?

I'm no fan of 92.3 OR Chunky...but come on people. Pull your heads out of your asses. New Yorkers used to tough and cool. NOW they're a bunch of whiney "titty babies" as Imus would say.

"I can't believe he said that! I'm so offended! Everyone needs to know about it!" Ugh. Kill yourselves.

@Turnpike Tuner: WORD

Chunky has been edgy since day 1. He pisses people off with his sophomoric humor, but his core audience comes back for more. Based on his antics in the past, it is believable that he could have said something like this on the air. Someone with an axe to grind started a rumor that Chunky said that, and it spread like wildfire. The R.I.P. Amanda Cummings facebook page had her bullies taunting her on that page even after her death. The rumor got started on there and it spread. People believed it without having actually heard it themselves. Chunky has offered to let anyone come to the CBS Radio office, and listen to his entire show from Wednesday night. I think it would be a fitting punishment to force everyone who spread the rumor to listen to the entire 4 hour show at once, including the commercials and music. I admit I'm guilty of believing the false rumors.

If that's indeed the case, a rumor, then that's part of the vulnerability of being a "shock jock" whereas one's on air persona could be used against him/her for being accused of saying something when they didn't.

Keep listeners coming back for more? Do you realize he isn't even in the top 5 at night in the core demos? Matter of fact... NO day part is in the top 5, nor the station as a whole.

Explanation has been made. An article was posted earlier on the 92.3 Now website. Now we can go on with our lives lol ;D

I think there's a bigger lesson to be learned here....

Before anyone, and I'm not mad at ya D21, posts something or starts up a campaign against someone, to get all of the facts first. I don't follow Chunky's show but if he didn't say these things or perhaps it was taken out of context then let's give the man the benefit of the doubt before people start slandering away. Someone tagged me on FB to join an anti-Chunky group. I took my name out of it.

Let's just get back to the main purpose of what has happened to Amanda Cummings. She was bullied and killed herself because of it. It's about DUE time that the Department of Education in NYC start up a curriculum regarding tolerance amongst each other that ALL students MUST take, and it would be done on a high school level. We certainly don't need any more of this.

I'm stepping up to apologize for starting this subject if it sounded one sided. I missed that segment that night since I walk home from work, but I did read the replies that same night and the comments were by the hundreds, therefore believing it was true. But thanks to DJ Toro for uploading the aircheck of Chunky coming clean and getting the situation straightened.

D, there is one person imparticular that you and I BOTH know that's still going headstrong with this campaign against Chunky (not mentioning names).

I am probably the only one in there that's saying "get the facts first", even telling people to go to Now's studios and meet with someone in the legal department so that they can hear that broadcast. If Chunky is on there and said those things, then I would say yes, fire him. But if there is NOTHING on that tape, and legal would have no reason to edit it, then the people accusing him are bullies too. Chunky may be an adult but if this affects his livelihood and none of this is true, then those people that are headstrong to accuse him without getting the facts should be ashamed of themselves.

That's why I say before one gets accused of something, to back yourself up with the facts. I still have NOT heard the audio in question and that's because there isn't any! No one else has posted anything. That's why I say, go visit 345 Hudson St (where CBS Radio is located) and listen to the aircheck.

And as far as Jake's comment is concerned....all I can say is when you do have a kid (if the plans happen that way) that he/she doesn't bully because I don't want to pay for that. ::)

Sorry for getting off topic, but I believe education investment is very important. It's vital to have quality educational infrastructure for the next generation to prosper. That goes from kindergarten through college. Anti-bullying programs are an important part of that. If a kid is being bullied to the point of depression, he or she might have their grades drop, drop out of school or do worse, even if they're doing fine academically. I was bullied in school for many reasons, being a nerd, not willing to fight, and even for liking dance music. No kid should be forced to suffer being bullied. It's now worse with social media being so popular, the bullying extends off school grounds and the school administration is unable to deal with bullying that happens outside of the school's jurisdiction. Amanda was being bullied even after her death on a memorial Facebook page. Fortunately, the posts from people who show support are drowning out the hateful posts now. Ironically, Chunky was a victim of cyberbullying even as a grown adult. If CBS Radio didn't aircheck 92.3 24 hours a day, he could have been fired for something he didn't do. An appropriate punishment to the people that spread the rumor should be a 4 hour "detention" at the CBS Radio studio, and the people should be forced to listen to Chunky's show from Wednesday night.

Nick, that's why I'm telling people that if they heard something, or thought they did, to go to 345 Hudson Street, speak to someone in the legal department and hear the aircheck.

If indeed he said something that was hurtful and along those lines, by all means fire him. But if he didn't and he loses his livelihood based on this possible smear campaign, then he has every right to sue whoever started these on the basis of slander.

Once again, get the facts BEFORE one takes it to that level. :)

Someone suggested I Google up Chunky with his alleged bullying comments. This is what I found!

http://923now.radio.com/2011/03/16/chunky-buster-bullying-is-wrong/

This link goes back to March 16, 2011! And NO ONE has found the comments that Chunky "allegedly" made in question. So....why make such comments like that if you are an opponent of bullying?
