Cianci and O.J.

How about adding O.J. to their lineup, they can be the station that hires shady characters.

How about O.J. and Cianci as a duo??

I wouldn't say there haven't been MANY 'shady Characters' in radio. This goes WAY beyond that!
This is about a man who IS a crimnial. Two time convicted felon. The F.B.I. calls him a Racketeer.
Cianci , being given a lofty job as talk host, sends a terrible message to everyone, including our kids.

I truly wish WPRO well, they are a great station. I will have a problem with 10 to 2 however.

I've listened to 45 minutes. Some of the worst , phoney talk I've ever heard. :(

I don't listen to talk but naturally everybody is checking him out today. The first day is probably not an indication of what's to come but it's been all "Ron visited me in prison", "I don't wear a toup anymore", then the first caller is a woman who used to campaign for him? HELLO? Right off the bat there's a shill?

Frankly not even looking at the prison record (and he did pay his debt) that whole WPRO lineup is just filled with unpleasant people someone of whose actions in radio itself are notorious.

My question is "what if this eventually bombs?" What if times have changed enough for the last five years that people are fed up with people with "pasts" or who are problem children in radio coming out the winners anyway. Who pays for it at WPRO? Giammarco? He probably shouldn't but probably would. Haynes? Probably. StPierre? Definitely. If it weren't for Cianci he would be long gone and the only reason WHJJ would take him is if he brings Cianci. When your career is based on what other people are able to do that's what happens.

Sounds like a winning Line up to me! You might be onto something. I'm thinking that felons make good hosts! This is what HJJ should have done.

Mornings with Martha (Stewart)
Middays with Buddy Cianici
Afternoon Drive with OJ Simpson
G. Gordon Liddy into the night!

Give it time.

Don't judge long-term prospects by inevitable Day One hugs-and-air-kisses.
It's bound to sound wistful and "old" today.
God bless.

Going forward, if Buddy can make news, the show will be huge.

No excuse for bad planning. The show was all over the road, no direction. Buddy said he has made many mistakes in life about 50 times. Plus, they did not use Ron properly. Ron should be the set up guy for Buddy and let him go. I realize it was the first show, but odd chemistry.

cianci was a breash of fresh air compared to Depetro today. is this what we have to look forward to? Depetro puts the mildly retarded Vinny Paz on and extracts totally personal and inappropriate information about him and his fiance'. it was quite uncomfortable to listen to-luckily he had massive phonme problems that were just as embarassing. getting info like that out of a guest might be considered "an art" if it wasn't a crazed washed up publlicity seeking has been. he was just taking advantage of a poor bastard. not impressed JD

JD was schizophrenic this mng. He was very wound up. The phone mess didn't help him much. The interview with Paz stunk. We didn't have to know the reason Paz's buddy failed to pick him up. You guys
know why. But JD enjoys that crap anyway.

Buddy was OK for the first day. Too much promotion and too many commercials. He'll be much better day by day.

It 's a pleasure to now be listening to Dan and talk of everyday world
problems. Also looking forward to Matty's show.

More talk hosts like Helen, who has broad subjects, guests, national and international flavor and topics. Arlene, did this, (Iknow many did not like her, but, she made one think, about issues national and international.

I feel that WPRO is dumbing down, there is enough, Brittany Spears, Pam Anderson, et al, enough of dumbing down.

More international issues need to be discussed, and I do not mean Hannity and Bimbo et al. Topics about contaminated foods, leaded toys, the divisions being created in this country by jackson and sharpton, since they lost a huge base in Louisiana when a large population was dispersed and for the better.

Immigration, Muslims training camps in areas that are difficult to access.

Cianci, is just another dumbing down of the listeners.

One hour of Matt Allen is worth 3 hours of Buddy Cianci! Anyday.

Tony,
in a clandestine world, yeah that would be nice. I have heard Helen, JD and/or a number of times struggle to fill the hour by themselves when they try to review issues more like you've mentioned above because it just doesn't generate a reaction (ie calls) to create a dialogue. If you look at MSNBC, CNN, Fox News...what are they talking about this week....Brittney Spears, Phil Spector and OJ. Barely a whisper about the fed rate cut (except on the stock shows), a parting review of the Jena situation right now on Wolf (with the protest rally today), a minor story about the security companies in Iraq. Will any of these real news stories equate to a call tomorrow on any of the local shows.....no.

If the judge took away Brittney's kids, if the Spector trial has a hung jury or if OJ eats someone on the golf course tomorrow happened, you won't be able to get a call in....it is the society we live in.
