Cianci Novelty fades - Uh-oh

Cianci Novelty Fades
50-State Network - 1 hour 4 min ago

The latest Arbitron rankings now legitimate pervasive anecdotal evidence that the Buddy Cianci show is on the decline. Here are the stats for 630 WPRO for the time period 1000am - 300pm. BEFORE CIANCI Summer 2007 Arbitron average listenership: 6,400 rank: 7 CIANCI BEGINS Fall 2007 Arbitron average listenership: 8,200 rank: 5 CIANCI FADES Winter 2008 Arbitron average listenership: 6,400 rank: 7 (Compare Cianci's Winter 2008 numbers with WPRO's Winter 2007 numbers for the same time period: average listenship: 7,700 and rank:6.) On a "lighter" note, the #1 Winter 2008 station was WWLI Lite Rock at 20,300 listeners.

Where did you get the Arbitron Ratings? How did WHJJ do during the morning and afternoon hours?

You can find anything if you look hard enough. The info I found only talked about Buddy's ratings and how Lite rock is Number 1. I also like how it's broken down in actual numbers of people listening as opposed to ratings points. So as expected there was a curiosity factor for Buddy where ratings spiked at first. But now ratings are exactly the same in his time slot as they were before he was even hired. Nothing lost, nothing gained. All that negotiating and all that salary paid out just to end up with No change! When you tune in to Cianci there are 6,400 other people tuned in. That number isn't impressing me. I thought things were going a little better than that.

In looking at this, there is no context if this is 12+ numbers or a specific demo...12+ the numbers could be flat; but 25-54 could be a different story...damn the embargo

Congratulations WPRO, you gave 300,000 to a jail bird. 150,000 to a guy who trashed his 2 bosses on the net and in the business. You should have kept Rush! You were short sighted. Buddy , laughing all the way with Ronzo, to the bank.. uh - oh!!!

I hope that Buddy learns a lesson from the unfortunate situation of TV's Ed McMahon. You better sock some of that cash away my friend. I honestly don't think this gravy train is going to last. Ratings appear to be flat and you work for a company that's almost broke. I don't think you are going to get 300 Grand thrown at you so easily again.

Look at the name on the bottom of the linked piece. Matt Jerzyk.
Jerzyk is current Providence mayor David Cicilline's internet shoe shine boy.
This piece on Cianci originally appeared on Jerzyk's local blog.
Now who with ties to radio has an axe to grind with Cianci being on WPRO from 10 - 2?
Who would have access to and be in cahoots with an agent of the Democratic party like Matt Jerzyk?
Hmmm now who could it be? :D

Matt JERK-SICK is a slime! I know, BUT, the numbers don't lie.
It could well be Buddy gained WPRO NOTHING.. And after all that!
Huge money and bendovers for NOTHING!
