Cincinatti AM Only board?

Probably the only market in the country, or at least here on R-I.com, where the top 5 topics are all about AM radio. Refreshing ain't it?

It just goes to show the the FM dial is pretty much dead with the exception of a few stations, and the up comming CC spin off of 94.1 and 92.5 in a few weeks, there is not much to talk about right now.

Heck, sometimes I think it's more of a Dayton/Springfield board! I emailed the radio-info people to suggest they start a separate board for that market. All the posts about some Catholic daytime station at the end of the dial doesn't mean squat to people in Cincinnati.

The problem with Radio Maria: a radio carrier was on the air with nothing on it for over a week...a clear violation of FCC rules. No legal ID's, no nothing. Obviously, the owner's lights were on, but no one was home. I didn't see anything wrong with posting on this board about it. Yes, they are a non-entity in Dayton. But, as a professional broadcaster of over 30 years, I will not allow a commercial radio frequency anywhere to be abused such as that one was. If they can afford a radio license, they can afford to play by the same rules we all do.

Sorry if we bored you...

If they want to start a Dayton board, fine. But until then, deal with it, ok?

Play nice fellas... ;D

Some of us oldtimers are more compassionate about AM radio then FM radio because we grew up listening
listening to AM radio. Also, some of us are more able to relate and identify with AM radio.

OUUC, Your complaint certainly has some basis. That Catholic daytime station at the end of the dial can't
even be heard in Cincinnati so that would explain why some people on this board would have absolutely no
interest in the thread on Radio Maria. Now, to a AM radio buff like myself, that thread is very interesting even
if that Catholic daytime station at the end of the dial has a very weak signal into Columbus, Ohio where I
live.

Dayton/Springfield stuff should be posted on the Ohio board, not the Cincinnati board. That's what it's there for: To accommodate Ohio markets that don't have their own board.

That's like a slightly nicer way of saying "markets that aren't important enough"
