Cincinnati Christmas Past by Don Herman

I haven't heard the "Cincinnati Christmas Past" programs by Don Herman on radio here for several years. These were the approximtely five-minute shows featured each holiday season that would feature a year from the past and provide information on what was taking place in the area on that Christmas (who or what was in the news, movies playing, prices of gift items or meals, etc.). Don would narrarate it while various Christmas songs played in the background.

WCKY 1530-AM played those for years during their programming day and at one point offered them for sale. In more recent years, WMKV (and maybe WVXU) aired them. You can tell Don put a lot of research into those, probably year-long at the public library reading old newspapers from microfilm and taking notes, then putting it all on tape. I miss hearing them.

I remember them too. They were great. Don Herman was a solid pro and great to listen to with that voice of his.

I also remember how good the old 1530 WCKY used to be. They had great talent on the air.
I often thought they were much better than WLW at the time.

106.7 WNKR in Dry Ridge airs a similar program but with a different host. A Northern Kentucky Christmas with Shad O'Shea is also running for 36 hous through Chistmas night.
