Cincinnati numbers

CKY still a looser. CC has to be considering changes maybe?? WLW still #1 no surprise. KRC still doing well although down some. Infinity has UBE beating 96.5 no surprises. Q102 beating MIX but behind KISS 107FM. WBOB no show but Salem doesn't mind.

'GRR now recracks the top 5. Could Mojo be Jacked instead? Rhythmic oldies is niche, y'know. Kiss & WIZF did beat Warm, y'know.

I'd give CKY 'til maybe around the time of the '06 election to improve. I don't live in the area, but have they done much in the way of publicity? That seems to have been a major problem for a lot of the 'progressive talk' stations.

But I wonder if ultimately they'd be better off moving to a smaller signal?

Fun to splash around in the 12+ pool a bit. Darryl Parks does it again at the Big One. The Frog is back up high on the mountain. Smiles on Reading Road with the solid numbers from B-105,WGRR and even Q-102. Nice bump for the WIZ, MOJO takes a hit. The small stick of the BUZZ beats the 50 thousand watt Lib talker! With the massive publicity they got flipping from oldies and that huge signal, how can you fizzle down to less than a 1 share? I admit it's early in the game for them but they have to be asking themselves why no one is listening. Just pondering, is anyone, anywhere doing a JACK-A.M.?

I'm thinking Q102 could be a likely candidate if Infinity pulls the trigger in Cincinnati. They were up some but I can't help to think that the Whatever weekends helped in the most recent book.

If the Whistleblower is not full of it, which is possible

Um, let's put the credit where it's due, with the talent. All Darryl does is write those pompous overwrought Cutler IDs that ought to end with "Winner of the Buckeye Newshawk Award! Here's Les Nessman and The News!" Kudos to McConnell, Jim Scott, Willie, Gary Burbank, Scott Sloan, Seg, Tracy and Furball, as well as the unsung heroes like Duke Sinatra. But really...when half of the newscasters on the radio station can't pronounce the call letters (semun hunred, dubya dubya), I think the PD needs to be taken to task. That's weak.

Good job for the Big One as always, and I will agree with the liners..sounds like a poor imitation of what Randy Michaels would have done. Buzz beats WCKY..that's a big problem, sounds like other than a handful of whiny white liberals, WCKY might as well be broadcasting a test tone. Spanish maybe?
______________
Soon to set the world record for recieving Nigerian scam and phising e-mails!

Do you even know how to read these?

The 12+ numbers are bragging rights. WARM, MIX, & MOJO did very well in their demos. Q102 also did well with younger women, even tying KISS in some spots. No format changes are looming. WCKY hasn't even been on the air a year yet. Good Lord! Give it time. Darryl Parks is smart enough to do that.

The P.I.'s are coming! The P.I.'s are coming! No, not P-1's, P.I.'s! Can they find me? Probably. Can they find WCKY's ratings? No one else can! What a shame, advertisers getting the truth about a stations ratings. Well, I hope I get frisked by a P.I. like the one played by Pam Anderson on V.I.P.. I am SUCH a sexist PIG!!!

Aww man, if WCKY switches formats, I don't know what I'd do. They're my favorite station. If I had an Arbitron book to fill out, WCKY would be higher up on the list. Anyone know if they're getting rid of the God Squad? I'm gonna be visiting the Clear Channel studios soon and that's one of the questions I'm going to ask them.

Rachel Murray and Scott Springer are numbers 1-2 on the "W" bad pronunciation list.

Seriously....
What are you, 19???? Going to take a tour of Clear Channel with your class?

You seem to know a lot about WLW and Homer. You must work there.

All you got to do is look at the kids profile before you open your mouth, you will see the kid is 15. Not everybody on here is a middle aged unemployed ex radio geek.

So YOU'RE the ONE who's listening. Well, probably not. Dinosaur oldies did 225% better a year ago and even did better 25-54. As for the "Give It Time" crowd, how long do you give a 50,000 watt radio station that can't pull a one share? They gave oldies 2 years and they drew much better ratings. My guess is they pull the plug at the end of the year if it's not better. Likely moves, how about Homer to 1530, Spanish to 1360? Or, with WGRR moving even further away from the 60's why not try oldies, not REAL oldies, just oldies? Given they're owned by CC that's as likely as WCKY pulling a 2 share, I suppose.

Wow! What a great strategy!

Go back to a format that wasn't working.

How long do you give a 50,000 watt station that was getting unsatisfactory 25-54 shares and was more expensive to run? What was it? Two years?

How about getting real and letting the format have its normal cycle...about a year and a half. I think Darryl Parks knows more about this than you do.

Re: Wow! What a great strategy!

> Go back to a format that wasn't working.

Wasn't working more than twice as well as this. By the way, I didn't suggest a return to oldies. I suggested Homer to 1530, Spanish to 1360. That's the move. The oldies was more of a musing because CC won't program over 50 anywhere.

25-54 of the unsatisfactory format was better than the current even-more-unsatisfactory station and it cost much less to produce than does WCKY. If you think Jerry Springer costs less than the voice-track of the hour club WSAI used you're hallucinating.

Hell, give it 5 years, 10 years or 100 years. It doesn't matter. This format is never going to thrive in Cincinnati. It's an orphan waiting to be tossed on the garbage heap. Have all the faith in the world you want in it but 1530 would do better in the ratings if they ran a tone.

Re: Wow! What a great strategy!

Bottom line: Your typical "knee-jerk" reaction to only ONE full book is flawed. You don't kill a brand new format in less than a year unless it's a total disaster, which this isn't.

Also, Jerry Springer's salary is not a WCKY-only expense. He's a syndicated host. Just like Limbaugh's salary isn't paid solely by WKRC...even though Limbaugh works for Premiere, which is Clear Channel.

As for Spanish, the total cume of a Spanish station in this market would be less than 40,000. I'm sure Air America - as horrible as it is - gets more than that. SPanish would work better ona station with less potential.

Anybody got any numbers to compare?
