Cincinnati's WGRR Next To Go??

Although I'm not in the area, and I think it might be a mistake for Infinity to do so, I feel that Cincinnati's WGRR will probably be the next major oldies station to have it's format changed, and to "Jack".

Why WGRR and Cincinnati??

(1) WGRR is owned by Infinity, like WMJK Chicago and CBS-FM New York, both of which went "Jack" at the same hour (5 P.M. EDT, 4 P.M. CDT, last Friday, June 3rd).

(2) Infinity seems committed to replacing oldies stations with "Jack".

(3) While there are three rimshots in the Cincinnati area playing a "Jack"-type format, I suspect much of the metropolitan area can't get a good signal from any of them.

(4) "Jack" is such a hot format that stations have been racing each other to make the flip. Infinity supposedely was beaten to the punch in three markets by other broadcasters who heard about plans to flip Infinity stations to "Jack" (within 24 hours!) and decided to immediately flip one of their own stations to a "Jack"-type format to "head Infinity off at the pass". If Infinity doesn't flip WGRR (or one of their other Cincinnati stations) to "Jack" now, someone will beat them to it---despite the rimshots being there---and probably very soon.

Although it would probably a mistake to flip this particular station, I think WGRR will probably get hi-"Jacked" before July 4th--maybe as early as 5 P.M. EDT this Friday (June 10th).

If that does happen what about 1530 flipping back? I know it is a fat chance...just had to ask the question. LOL<P ID="signature">______________

Extremely obese chance- zero. In many markets, Oldies may end up on AM but the 'Real Oldies' concept was a non-starter from day one.
