OK you want our comments... ...Only the moronic manager types care about the arbitron numbers anyhow.
As an ex-radio guy who now works with the family home remodeling business but still keeps tabs on the industry via friends and message boards like this (and its newfound competitor), I respectfully disagree with the assertion that "only moronic manager types care about" the numbers and what goes into them.

When I was in the business not that long ago, I worked for a few stations in large medium markets that granted reasonable performance bonuses in the Spring and Fall books. Every one of the jocks was competitive and most were well-versed in Arbitron methodology and nuances.

To a large extent, even some of the support personnel who didn't derive additional benefits from a good book (like traffic and production departments,) took a measure of pride in the station's performance when the Spring and Fall books came out.

I post on the Buffalo-Niagara Falls-Rochester board and regularly read Pittsburgh and Cincinnati boards for well-thought commentary from people in markets that are similar to Buffalo (this is intended to be a compliment) and Milwaukee.

I don't know about a new found competitor. What and where is it?

I felt the need to chime in,
A good friend called me earlier today for my comments.
For better or worse, Arbitron has set a precedent in Cincinnati that we all need to take note of and live with.
I guess its ok for any or all of us to be diary keepers since there are no longer any consequences to fear.

“The radio company in question will soon be under new management”
