Big wigs in radio think that the listeners are stupid. Research shows that listeners only tune in on average about 30 - 45 minutes so replay it. They should at least change the stories around.

Average listeners probably do listen 30-45 minutes at a time. I keep my radio on at work and on my long commute. It's bad enough we have to listen to the same song within a less than 2 hour period (i.e. The Climb), now we have to listen to repeats of content with the shows themselves? Geeez!

Seriously, it's quite lame. The listeners pick up on a lot more than they give us credit for. And speaking of credit, if you want some, I would suggest coming up with some new stories and doing the dirt live each time - oh yeah and don't ad lib your voice over a celebrity interview that you didn't do. But I digress....

A lot of morning shows only do about 2 hours of stuff that they repeat. 6-8 then 8-10. It can be difficult to pull together 4 hours of ideas everyday. Think about the late night TV shows. They have 6+ writers to come up with about 20 minutes of stuff and a couple dozen lame questions to ask celebrities.

Building a network of fresh content sources is a fundamental issue with personality radio shows - has been for years. Other than Robin Williams what professional entertainer could go 4 hours a day 5 days a week and not hit a wall on content quality? Plus most radio personalities are instructed to be funny versus say, relevant and interesting first.

Add to this the fact that the same "joke" sheets are read by most personalities and you get what you hear on the radio today - similar fodder across formats. Truly funny moments just happen - if your good maybe a few times a week.

Granted Celeb' Dirt on ALL stations is usually just regurgitated freak of the week headlines from Entertainment Tonight, but Cindy and Ray work hard and prep each show. Overall
Ray's one of the best jocks on the air and Cindy - when she's not talking about herself - creates some good chemistry. They have the talent to help turn Star around.

This is just a personal comment. I liked Cindy & Ray when they were on in the afternoons better. It was different. Now they just sound like Steve & Vikki...to me anyway.
