Cinemax to end original programming

Cinemax is to end original programming while shows like Warrior mat move to HBO Max. The Cinemax linear channel will remain. It says linear 'channel' instead of 'channels' so are the other multiplex channels going? Few providers will hardly want to keep Cinemax if it has no original content. They are dropping it as it is. You'd wonder why they didn't just axe it now when they are starting with HBO Max?

Cinemax has, in recent years, been offered as part of packages. Buy HBO, get Cinemax. I'm not sure the original programming they offered ever was an serious inducement for additional subscriptions. Cinemax still likely has a place in many lineups.

It's becoming a "ghost brand," kind of like The Movie Channel, a major name in the fledgling cable universe of the '80s that's hardly even thought about today.

Yes, The Movie Channel is a shell of its own self. It used to be watched by just about every pay-TV subscriber, just like Showtime.
Cinemax hasn't been trending lately either, especially in these post-Max After Dark years. Back in the day they were known for the late night softcore porn.
Wouldn't be surprised to see some of the multiplex channels eventually go away. Thriller Max, OuterMax, etc etc.
