Citadel and FM Talk

Citadel just flipped an FM in Syracuse to talk, and not your typical "all-conservative, all-the-time" echo chamber. They have a fairly diverse, yet interesting lineup. Good to see that. Only one live/local daypart though.

Any chance of Citadel flipping a Buffalo FM?

Buffalo? Nah. The difference is WLTI in Syracuse is only a Class A and my guess is they were losing the AC war not having much of a local line-up. They might not do too much better with talk!

Talk on FM had a 6 month run on WBUF...if that even counts toward suggesting that it won't work in Buffalo.

I think the stronger point may be numbers.
Ratings for Citadel stations in Buffalo are too good for change...right?

I could see The Lake going talk before any other commercial Buffalo FM. WBEN will want to add an FM frequency at some point.

"WBEN will want to add an FM frequency at some point"

Can't see that happening. WBEN needs an FM simulcast less than any other station in the market for two reasons; the numbers are as good as the current format and lineup can deliver, and the signal is good enough to cover the full market. They could conceivably get a CP to boost power to 10 kW DA-N with just a minor tweak to the night pattern (a liittle deeper null southwest toward Oklahoma) and that'd do them more good than anything else they might do, other than bringing back a good local evening show.
