Citadel B'ham for sale?

This Morning, Rick and Bubba implied to some sort of impending sale or new ownership of Citadel cluster. On the TV feed, there were for sale (cell, sail) signs taped to the wall within camera shot. Is this for real, or just an ongoing joke? I must have missed something somewhere.

Hasn't the investment firm that owns Citadel been toying with selling the whole thing (as in every station everywhere, not just Birmingham) for a few years now?

If so, I hope it gets bought by someone with some programming balls.

Turner South For Sale

They were talking about Time Warner placing the Braves and Turner South up for sale...

OFF TOPIC: Am I the only one surprised they'd be packaging both the Braves and Turner South? Given its programming, I've never really thought of the net as a regional sports outlet for the Braves, Hawks, or Thrashers.
______________

'Preciate the info. It never dawned on me that R&B might be talking about TS. I assume that TBS is not part of the big Time Warner selloff. I guess they figure that a potentual buyer might want a ready-made network to go along at a bargain price with the club.

I like TS. They program some good regional shows. But, it looks like TS could go the way of the YES network and the new Met Net and be a dedicated cable channel that shows the Braves exclusively for an extra monthly charge. The Braves could pull that one off as they have lots of fans that would be willing to shell out dollas to see them on the Telly.

Aren't the Braves the only reason Turner South even exists? I thought it was just a giant dodge to get around MLB restrictions and show every game on cable in Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, and the Carolinas.

If the Braves and Turner South are sold together, would the new owners keep the cable network's coverage limited and use it as a baseball outlet or would they turn it into a national network of some kind?

I'm not sure about that idea, as Turner South is already on basic cable (and in DirectTV/Dish Network packages) for most of the southern cable systems that carry it.

I don't know if any potential new owner want to jeopardize that clearance, unless the money brought in from the scnario you described is just that lucrative. And even then, folks still might not pony up and buy--just ask the folks that worked for the Charlotte Bobcats' channel.
______________
