Citadel & Cumulus

I'd say look for WDVD to start carrying The Billy Bush Show during the week and Doug FM to possibly go classic rock as a prediction.

Citadel clearly needed to raise cash and the deal they made with Disney (from which each of these stations was acquired) looks worse with each passing day.

Frankly I see no changes execept perhaps at WDVD. DOUG-FM could not be run any more cheaply, and at WJR Paul W will have to take a pay cut. Albom is likely in his last contract to be replaced by the third hour of Hannity and an extended Lloyd Jackson show.

WDVD has been doing pretty well. I agree that Cumulus will likely leverage their morning show to save money but can't think of many more changes they need to or even should make.

I wonder if WJR will retain the ABC affiliation?

Cumulus likely made a good deal here because of Citadel's desperation. Disney picked a good time to leave radio when they did.

It's now official. Impressive that Suleman was able to get $37/share. I stand by my prediction that this means little change at WDVD or WDRQ (Doug FM) but agree with marv that the morning show on WDVD will change.

For WJR, I do believe this means the end of the Mitch Albom show when his contract is up to be replaced by the third hour of Hannity and a low cost local news program or syndicated filler content for the other hour. Paul W Smith will be able to stay if he's willing to take less money and I think he will as opportunities for his brand of broadcasting (not a bad brand at all, just not in big demand now) are limited. If not, look for some syndicated content in there.

Some markets carry Billy Bush in the mornings and evenings pending where you are at. And since Cumulus will be getting the stations don't be suprised if he does show up on WDVD.

WJR
I'll be glad to see Mitch Albom leave, on WJR, perhaps they can add the Hannity show for the lasthour of Sean's show.

"ABC News Radio" is still produced and programmed by Disney/ABC; Cit-*** will handle distribution until at least 2016. If I'm not mistaken, the 'legacy' ABC Radio stations - including WJR - all have similar long-term affiliation deals with ABC NR.

Highlights from the WDVD Morning Show, Blaine and Allyson are set to be featured on a new nightly TV show "Dish Nation", airing on FOX 2 Midnight, starting July 25th. Seven other FOX stations will run the program at various times, for a six-week trial run. If this show survives that trial run, the morning show becomes safe from change IMO.

Trying to figure out why anyone would think they would replace the #1 morning show 25-54 women? That is the money maker of the station! Cumulus is not going to mess with a station that is making money and WDVD IS making money!!! They need to keep things making money because of the debt they are incurring with the Citadel purchase. Cumulus is in mostly medium to small markets, with a few exceptions. To mess with the market that is doing well for them is plain crazy! I believe they see that and know when they have a good thing. No one there is making big money either. Kosbau was not known for paying his staff a lot.
