Some suggestions.
WZUN - Stop playing so much old, dusty music. WYYY could be ripe for the picking if you played mainstream AC, and did it right. Live and local all times except overnights, bigger contesting, bigger outside promotion. The Juli Boeheim spots on TV are terrible. She's not THAT big of a name, get over it. Get a consultant who knows AC, not one who's website brags mostly about his success in rock stations. They think they "know it all," but nobody can honestly be an expert at EVERY format on the radio.
WYYY - The music is OK for the most part, but the playlist could be a little broader. Next, AC stations do better with a love/dedication show at night. Delilah is not available in the market, so do one locally. (Gasp! Did he say spend money?) Seriously, if it's done right, the cost of a new hire will be outweighed by the better ratings. John Tesh is boring... but your consultant loves it because he also consults Tesh. Every affiliate he can get hooked is more money in his pocket, even if it's not the best thing for you locally.
Bringing back Friday Night at the 80's might also help. Or move it to the weekend, and toss Crappy Disco Nite out the window. Maybe the PD and/or consultant should also be shown the door.
WSYR - The big problem here is delaying Rush by an hour. Your listeners can't even call in and participate in the topics, because by the time they hear it, it's already been done with an hour ago. Considering how tight the Rush affiliate contract usually is, I'm really surprised this delay is permitted. The "afternoon news" may be a long-running tradition, but if I was in charge, putting Rush on live would be my first move. I would also move up Reith, in favor of doing an hour-long local news at 5 or 6, instead. If I only had an hour during the day to listen on my lunchbreak, I'd rather hear what Rush has to say... I can find local news online anytime. And all due respect to Paul Harvey, but he needs to retire.
"Paige Two!" (pardon the pun)
Hot vs. Q - For the first time in years, I can honestly say I listen to both about equally. Seems like I've favored one or the other over the years, but it's evened out for now. I'll be an equal opportunity slammer: both morning shows are way too chatty. Ted sounds like he's talking inside one of those huge concrete pipes, and Shannon can be annoying to the point where she grates on you.
