Citadel No Shows The Ratings!

Amazingly TWO of Citadels 4 Syracuse stations did not show in the ratings! "The Big Talker"(now THATS an ironic name) is nowhere to be seen while WSYR has another good showing. As pathetic as Lite 105 had become, it never pulled a no show.
1260 The Score,with the mighty Brent Axe also pulled a no-show. In a market the size of Syracuse,just a few diary mentions gets you a tenth or two overall. Considering that "The Axeman" is simulcast on TW.it is truly embarassing to get a ZERO.
Farid must be so proud!

What were the Top 5 stations 12+ M-S?
 
When you think about the minimum requirement is about 10 mentions to 'show in the book" it is truly stunning that BOTH stations dont exist in either radio survey.
But what do you flip to?

1) They should have put ESPN on 105.9 a couple of years ago. That would have saved the ESPN affiliation there.

2) Country WAS an option as well. Now it would be a three-way race.

Maybe they should go oldies or similar format to "Legends" in Rochester. It wouldn't hurt the demos of 95X or 93Q.

Moving sports to 105.9 would still be the easiest option--just simulcast the two. The AM is useless by itself.
 
Farid doesn't care. He's in South Beach, enjoying the sun. As to the Syracuse numbers, when a station comes up empty, it usually has nothing to do with ratings methodology or diary placement. It indicates the format isn't working. I've heard Brent Axe on the Buffalo Bills post game shows. His performance is about as good as the Bills (0-5) this season. Sounds like another 'sports shouter' whose style has more to do with volume than content. This doesn't mean he won't turn up in Boston or NYC in a year and make it big. It just means I'm not impressed. Apparently more than a few potential listeners in Syracuse feel the same way. As to the stations' formats, it seems 'all the good ones' are taken in the 'Cuse. You can simulcast sports on FM and AM and hope it'll work, but it in the end it's nothing more than putting lipstick on a pig. Dump the FM format and go All Christmas for the time being. Go progressive talk on 1260. Hire a few good news people to fill in the local news breaks, at least in AM and PM drive. The chances of this happening are slim to none, so perhaps it might make more sense (and MONEY) to take the AM ethnic-brokered and put Oldies-Adult Standards (1955-1965) on the FM after All Christmas runs its course. -9-
