Is Allentown one of the markets? - If so - Who would buy? Nassau?

I highly doubt it... I think it's just overlapping areas. I'd like to see an independent investor buy one of these sticks from the corporates and do something fun with it...

...it's just that radio is a dying industry, and unless there's some radical new technology (and I DON'T mean HD), look for full automation from a stick near you.

Time for some Armchair Ownership

OK, what would YOU do with the Citadel properties? I'll throw it out there for discussion...

i'd start with firing management.. that would be a start. anyone else find delilah nausiating?? oh.. and maybe music this decade would help. oh wait.... humwing says oldies are a good thing becaus of his research of 1 person. but fortunately for citadel.. allentown is not its only problem.. all thier radio stations suck.. hence the over 90% decline in stock price.. amazing how that reflects results.

that's why having an oldies/classic hits...whatever format should be on FM yaw! what music is from this decade....is it a decade anymore??? and i'll have a coffee strong too.

i love when people talk about cat country... and brag about how well it does when no one talks about the fact it has absolutely no competition. if i had no competition i'd be a billionaire. but cat is the ONLY country station in the market. zzo has hawk, the bone and philly stations to compete with. b104 has wlev.. well kinda lol. but doesn't that prove how poorly the top 40 stations are doing??? only 2 stations competing and neither one is cracking the top 5 when the ones that have the most competition and were all told rock is dead a few years ago... are kickin thier butts. funnies part is wlev could hire ken and they would be kicking b104's butt caus the message boards all say his listener's (all 9 of em which is apparently 4 more than any other morning show was getting at the time. ) say they are listening to philly stations now. but again ... these were management's intelligence decisions... wake up lehigh valley... even mmr was smart enuff to snatch up preston and steve when y100 went hip hop. now they crush ysp. and it sure didn't take them a year and a half to do so. wonder what a rick michaels/ ken matthews tag team for a morning show would sound like?? hmmm.

What about the idea of putting Cat Country on the stronger signal of 100.7, then either move WLEV en masse back to its heritage 96.1 dial position, or perhaps there could be a new format to show up? Perhaps a gold-based AC (or even a WOGL-sounding station), programmed by Kevin Moore?

great idea... i can pick up 100.7 in center city philly unlike my former almni wxtu that stick always stunk in phila but norristown north always did well. so i know they are in conshohocken on the tower farm now but the 100.7 stick is a blowtorch.

But remember the moron Jim Shea who ran AM/FM said WCTO would only
have a minimal audience and it was moronic to blow up WLEV and put
Country on in Allentown.

Going back to the original question..virtually ALL of Citadel's small & small-medium and many of their medium markets are on the block. Farid Suleman has said so in comments made to IBS and to financial business reporters. With Citadel's acquisition of ABC, Citadel will concentrate on it's medium-large, large and major market holdings. In the general area, A-Town, NEPA, Binghamton, Syracuse, Buffalo and many others are going to be shopped. The bigger question is what will Citadel sell these properties for? In many cases when Citadel was growing in the late 90's, they vastly over-paid for many of their properties in a race to become a big player. So what will they do? Sell the stations at fire sale prices? Ask for what they paid for them? In one case I know of, they donated an AM station to a non-profit group just to get rid of it. Of course that makes it a tax deduction, would they do that with a number of their AMs? This could be a very interesting time for smaller operators to purchase some stations.

u know.. if u just wait a little longer you'll be able to buy the whole company outta bankruptcy for pennys on the $1 lol

CITADEL does not have to wait, they can get at me i can do that for em now might even let them have a lil something of stocks... if you guys are serious get the money now... i advise anyone at the top of the ladder to get at me and lets talk... i might even settle for the pa market alone!

On what basis is 100.7 a better signal than 96.1?. I know at one time I was able to receive 96.1 all the way down in Ocean City, NJ..not to mention Manchester NH (on a big mountain). 100.7 starts to get stomped on to the east by WHUD in Peeksill, NY. WCTO's only interference to the east is classical (soon to be Spanish) 96.3.

The bottom line is that both signals cover the entire Lehigh Valley with potent south mountain signals

Go a tad south/west (Northern Chester County\Western Montgomery County) and 96.1 WCTO receives severe interference from 96.1 WSOX. 100.7 is solid in this area. What about 96.1 WTTH in Atlantic City? I would think in Ocean City NJ, WTTH would be severley interfering if not completly wiping out WCTO.

Citadel defaults on thier loans which they will and goes bankrubt. Nexy move they will just refiance and be back with less debt. Citadel will have company with CC, Nassau and Cumulis. It's a game and the employees are the ones who get used and burned.
