Excuse me for posting this comment from other sites.
As for WLNE and KLKN, Meredith would be a great fit for both these stations. Meredith could use KLKN as a way to also buy KHGI/KWNB with the LMA for KFXL to help keep KHGI/KWNB afloat and not risk the NTV (Nebraska Television Network) stations KHGI/KWNB from going off the air and going dark when it's current license expires on June 1, 2014 next year and WLNE to be associated with the Meredith stations in Hartford, and Springfield, Massachusetts. LIN, Media General, or NPG(News Press Gazette) can also work well for both KLKN from Citadel and KHGI/KWNB with the LMA for KFXL from Pappas to enter Nebraska. KLKN would fit under Journal ownership and have KMTV as one of it's co owned sister stations.
Lombardo within a few years might not want to continue onwership of WLNE due to channel 10 and 12/64 having more successful news teams and KLKN due to 10/11 doing well ratings wise and sell it to someone that might want to combine it with KHGI/KWNB in the future.
Nexstar could buy KDMI and allow WOI to use the Channel 19 frequency for it's DTV RF channel to run all it's programming while also buying KCWI and continue to run it's DTV RF channel on channel 23 to program KCWI on it's DT1 subchannel and KDMI's MYNET and This TV on it's DT2 subchannel from Pappas.
There is no way that KLKN and KHGI/KWNB can still be separate ABC affiliates with separate owners and parents serving different areas with KLKN for Lincoln and KHGI for Kearney-Hastings-Grand Island along with KFXL FOX Nebraska within a few years in the entire Lincoln-Grand Island-Hastings-Kearney. Both are on Directv and Dish, Time Warner Cable in York along with Omaha's KETV, Charter in Grand Island and Hastings but only KHGI in Kearney and Lexington, Glenwood in Blue Hill, Mid-States in Aurora, USA Communications in Central City, and Clarks Telecom/NNTC in Clarks.
KLKN can be ABC as the legal successor to KHGI/KWNB for ABC on KLKN DT1 and KHGI/KWNB DT2 and KHGI/KWNB can be FOX Nebraska as the legal successor to KSNB/KTVG and KFXL for FOX Nebraska on KHGI/KWNB DT1 and KLKN DT2 with Live Well Network on a DT3 subchannel under a single ownership and parentship.
Downside is that KNOP's KIIT would lose the FOX affiliation and be able to still carry on as a independent station.
The present day KLKN ABC 8 was connected to the old 4 station Nebraska Television Network aka NTV Network (KHOL/KHGI, KHQL/KCNA, KHTL/KSNB, and KHPL/KWNB) as KHQL and later KCNA till 1983 when it went independent as KBGT till it got bought by Citadel as it got converted into a satellite of KCAU as KCAN and finally moved to Lincoln as present day KLKN.
The tower of the old KBGT Big 8/KCAN 8 as satellite of KCAU was actually built by NTV for channel 8 to air it's programming as a brand new independent station when finally sign on in 1984 under Joseph Amaturo/Amaturo ownership.
KCAU and the KCAN/KLKN incarnations combined had one single owner for over 25 years while NTV with KHGI/KWNB and the old KSNB has gone through many ownerships and parentships from Gordon, Sterling, Joseph Amaturo (2nd time around), Fant, and to Pappas with Lee Shubert as trustee since March 2012.
I have passion for both KLKN and NTV as ABC affiliates but not happy with Harry Pappas and his Pappas Telecasting continuing to own NTV and the LMA for KFXL as I have relatives getting NTV from Dish and Directv.
I know Harry Pappas and his Pappas Telecasting Companies has been in the bankruptcy and financial mess and turmoil since it's original May 2008 bankruptcy filling that didn't include KAZA, KSWT(in the midst of being bought by Brian Brady under Blackhawk Broadcasting to form a duopoly with KYMA), KHGI/KWNB with the LMA for the now defunct pre-10/11 Gray Television owned era KSNB and KTVG for FOX and KCWL(now KFXL as KFXL FOX Nebraska) for CW, KCWI, KDMI, WWAZ(now WIWN), and WLGA. Pappas stations not covered from the May 2008 bankruptcy filling has been in receivership under trustee Lee W. Shubert since March 2012 are the ones Pappas are forced to sell off that would otherwise be at greater risk of going off the air and going dark.
December 2011, Pappas planned on having his assets with NTV KHGI/KWNB and KFXL along with KSWT going into a liquidating trust fund under Harry Pappas:

Unfortunately, Harry Pappas and his Pappas Telecasting failed to make the payment and to reinvest the assets within Harry Pappas under his liquidating trust fund and It does meant that NTV under KHGI/KWNB and KFXL along with soon to be ex and former Pappas station KSWT is actually under the receivership of trustee Lee Shubert.

I'm saying no to either Brian Brady, Cordillera, and Sinclair for KLKN and WLNE from Citadel and KHGI/KWNB (hope Nexstar doesn't buy it) from Pappas.
That is the best I can do with my knowledge of KLKN and NTV and their associated sister stations from the past to the present.
