Citadel truly a Mickey Mouse operation

Looks like Farid is going to Disneyland!

LOS ANGELES - The Walt Disney Co. said it will merge its ABC Radio network and 22 stations with Citadel Broadcasting Corp. in a deal valued at $2.7 billion.

Disney and Citadel will form a new company to be called Citadel Communications. Disney shareholders will own approximately 52 percent of the combined entity with Citadel shareholders owning the rest, the companies said Monday.

The deal does not include Disney's ESPN and Radio Disney network.

The transaction gives Citadel 177 FM stations and 66 AM stations in the country's top markets, making it the nation's third largest radio group.

Ok is the radio Disney network only that's not included or is it also Disney owned stations that run the Radio Disney feed (such as NOLA's WBYU 1450am)?

Disney keeps the Radio Disney network.

I'm guessing WBYU is now Citadel's. They'll probably keep the format.

I wonder how many Citadel stations will be sold because of this?

The stations that ABC purchased for the purpose of airing Radio Disney or ESPN Radio were *NOT* included in the sale.

Therefore, WBYU still belongs to ABC.

Ok thanks Tymer.. Most I read before you and R&R kept saying Radio Disney , but didn't specify if just network or indluding the stations being off limits .... about the same time you posted, I found the article on R&R explaining it better

Thanks again for the clear up

The stations sold to "Citadel Communications", which Disney happens to be the majority stockholder of (52%), are outlined in this post on the national board:

Correction: Disney shareholders own 52% of New Citadel, not Disney itself. The Disney Corporation has little to no control over the operations of the new company, from what I can tell. Confusing, no?

I see. Makes sense, considering Radio Disney stations are basically a turnkey operation.
