Citadel wants your Social Security Number

Boy, they check, recheck and check again their facts at the Star. 104.1 at CC and 96.1 @ "Infinity". "Infinity".

That's pretty funny. What radio station in Tucson gives out prizes over the course of a year with an aggregate value of $600? Goofy policy to get SSNs for every little thing they give out.

With $20 worth of movie ducats on the line nine out of ten people would not provide an SSN...and apparantly the tenth person writes at the Star.

Too much information.
If the prize is less than $600, the social insurance # should not have to be recorded at all.

Name, adress and Phone# yes, anything else, no.

Also: Does this mean listeners in Border towns on the Canadain side are banned from winning anything from the American radio stations...ever?

I"m on the Canadain side.
Although I've never been lucky enough to get through to an American station durring a contest, does this mean I shouldn't even bother?

 I seem to recall the old Slone computered contest soft ware did the same thing 10 years ago at KIIM. It was easier to track winners by social numbers than last names I guess. :-\

Identity Theft is very prevalent in Arizona and one of the most popular crimes around the country. Only an uninformed person would volunteer their Social Security number to a stranger. The only institutions that require your Social Security number is your bank and the IRS. If someone should ask for your SS number... DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR REAL NUMBER!!! Make one up or just say, Sorry, You are not entitled to have my personal information. I'm surprised that someone hasn't reported CITADEL to the Arizona Attorney General's office for this practice. Terry Goddard is very proactive in protecting individuals against Identity Theft. DO NOT give your SS number to anyone. Especially some two-bit radio station intern. It could ruin your life.

Ummm. . .and your employer and anybody you do freelance work for in excess of whatever the trigger amount is these days. And if you win a prize with real value, you either have to provide your SSN to the radio station or skip the prize.
