Citidel dumping hD

Are we sure it's not a temporary thing associated with financial or technical issues? The reason I ask is that such a move is a pretty big blow to Ibiquity and the HD boosters. We would want to make sure we understand why before we celebrate too much. Granted, Citadel seems to be one of the most careful/skeptical big broadcasters when it comes to IBOC. For which I am grateful.

I wish CBS would get such a clue....especially on AM where they foolishly practice mutually assured destruction at night all over the east!

Indeed, as we have all seen countless times, stations turn off their IBOC transmissions seemingly at random-- and then, most of the time they come back on after a period of a few hours... or days... or weeks. WGN is one of the few that turned theirs off and kept it off... so far. No celebrating until the last IBOC exciter has been hauled to the dumpster!

CBS IBOC interference isn't limited to the east coast. They're doing a heck of a job hissing up the band here in the midwest as well.

My favorite station (WLS-FM 94.7), which is owned by Citadel, has had its iboc off for a couple of weeks now, and sounds great analog-only! I hope it remains that way!

I hate to tell you this, but the IBOC at WLS-FM is alive and well. I was listening to The Big 89 via its HD2 just last night. In fact it has better signal penetration that the majority of other HD2's in this market.

Then they must have those sidebands truly symmetrical now, as the background hiss level of the transmitted analog audio (received on my analog tuners) seems to be lower than it used to be.

And, actually, their HD signal seems to be more robust than most of the other signals broadcasting from Sears Tower.
