City TV / A-channel / CH

e-dawg said:
Could Citytv, A-channel, or CH become the 4th Canadian English network?

CH Specific:

CH, licenced as "CHCH TV 11" in Hamilton, under the previous owners (Pre Global) did try to become some form of network in Ontario known as ONtv.

WIC sold CH to Global, but the CRTC ruled that Global may not continue to operate the station as "ONtv" and that it MUST remain local to Hamilton Ontario.

A channel is up in the air, since Chum Group just sold all their properties to BCE group (Owners CTV)

With City in the hands of the same people who own CTV the best bet is to wait until CRTC makes a final decision on what BCE will (and will not) be allowed to own.

So far, it is expected that A channel will be resold, so that may be the best area of speculation in respect to answering your question.

How to offer the best answer may depend on who owns what in the near future...
