Citytv

Speaking of Citytv coming to Montreal, I know CTV has CTV two as a secondary network, they seem to cover most major markets except for Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Quebec. Will they try to put a footprint into Montreal/Quebec market by using their satellite station in Cornwall, Ontario, CJOH-8 and move it to Montreal? On the side note, I'm surprise that CTV didn't convert CKX-TV in Brandon, MB into CTV Two station and try to serve Winnipeg instead they shut it down. Do they still have the license to CKX-TV or it's been permanently deleted?

CTV could easily have done that for CKX-TV, and I'm sure the CRTC would have approved an expansion of that station to Winnipeg. I've always believed that the CKX shutdown was a publicity stunt for CTV, to demonstrate their awesome power to take away local television if the CRTC didn't give them their way.

Back to Citytv.......will Rogers purchase CJON in St. John's NL, or would they apply a new TV station from scratch for the Atlantic Province. Atlantic Province is the last Canadian market that doesn't have a citytv network.

If Geoff Stirling had his way, he won't sell NTV, nor allow any new stations to open in Newfoundland -- so far, he has staved off efforts from CTV and Global from opening new stations in St. John's.

Well it sounds like Skylab media group may also be in a (contracted?) situation where Global or CTV would get first bids long before Rogers can even step in and buy anything.
PLUS
The other big deal is that Rogers doesn't seem all that much anxious to restore CityNews International to replace (if possible) CTV national news content on NTV.

On another note, keep an eye on the Omni's. No fact yet, but I've heard word that Rogers may sell them. I have no idea how true that information is at this time. Maybe they'll sell another TV station, or maybe my sources are just yanking my chain.
