Civil Rights Activist Jesse Jackson Dead at 84

Jesse Jackson had been in poor health for a number of years. I saw him and did a quick interview at a fundraising event circa 2018, and he seemed unwell. He gave a mostly subdued speech, but towards the end of it the familiar, fiery Jackson style was on full display. RIP to a Civil Rights icon.

I was taking history when an "extra credit" question on a test was "Who ius Morely Safer?" I answered correctly and got to go to some event at an auditorium in Charlotte where he was the main attraction.

The next year I wasn't in a class that got to do that, and I heard from those who got to go to the next year's event about this man named Jesse Jackson and his profound statements.
