CJOY flip to FM & Manitoba applications

Corus has re-applied to flip CJOY 1460 in Guelph to 95.7 with 30,000 watts (Max. ERP). They have also requested an exemption from the common ownership policy. That was the reasoning for the rejection earlier this year as the CRTC deemed that the Corus signals in Kitchener (CKBT & CJDV) overlapped into Guelph.

Stillwater Broadcasting (CJSB 104.5 Swan River) has applied for a Country-Pop station at Winnipeg Beach on 93.7 with 1,640 watts and a rebroadcaster at Arborg on 99.5 with 119 watts. They have also applied for a Country station at Neepawa (in Western Manitoba) with 3,200 watts.

Riding Mountain Broadcasting (Brandon's CKLQ-880 & CKLF 94.7) has appled for a 100,000 watt (Max. ERP) AC station at Gimli also on 93.7. Gimli and Winnipeg Beach are in the same area, so the proposals from Stillwater and Riding Mountain are considered competing applications.

Corus, you already own enough in and around Guelph - you've got your two stations in the Kitchener area, you've got an FM station in Guelph already, you've got two beaming in from Toronto, and you've got two beaming in from Hamilton. Let someone else have a shot at commercial radio in Guelph.
