CJWI 1410 testing

Apparently it started late this afterno0n or this evening. According to the radio in Montreal yahoo group it is testing with music and announcements in French asking if people are having reception problems. I'm hearing it in the mud here in Ottawa. Not a great signal, but I'll have to leave the house and find out how it's really coming in. Reception in here is not great. Someone reported hearing it as far away as Belleville, Ontario at 9 pm tonight.

mimo, do you have any idea what power they're testing at? I do hear them here (about 15km north of Brockville), but they are struggling against a myriad of sports stations (Elmira NY's WELM, is the dominant daytimer here). I'm hearing the 'Beatles' (and now David Bowie), which is probable 'oldies' WDOE (0.5 kW) Dunkirk NY, as well as some other music, just barely coming through the audio floor, which could be 'adult standards' WLSH Lansford PA. CJWI, at 10 kW, should be whacking these guys, but the pattern must be protecting WELM in particular.

No idea. For me it was WENR Watertown that usually came in (faintly) Today it seems to be a slightly better signal. There probably is a null in our direction. I was actually able to hear it barefo0t on the g8 in a park when I couldn't do it yesterday in the same location. I need the terk advantage to get it listenable on my cc plus since I have a high noise flo0r, which seemed drastically reduced today. I was under the impression that it was supposed to be non-directional but maybe it is directional. I found an FCC coverage map for nightime showing directional to the north, with some signal going north of the Ottawa river. It would be strange if it came in clearly in Gatineau, but not here. I may have to take a 30 minute walk to see.

No signal at all today. Not sure if they shut it off or not. A couple of days ago they really banged into Ottawa late in the afterno0n. According to the signal meter on the G8, It was the strongest of all Montreal stations.

I have local WNER here so I won't be hearing Montreal during the day anytime soon. But they are basically a 3.5kw daytimer so there is a good chance I could hear Montreal at night.
