Clarke Ingram in need of financial assistance

Noted radio programmer and air talent Clarke Ingram is in dire financial straits, brought on by a series of serious medical issues which have pretty much confined him to home for more than a year now.

Some friends have started a GoFundMe page to raise money to help him. As of noon Pacific Time -- just shy of the page being online for a full day -- close to $9,000 has already been donated. The official goal is $15,000 and it seems obvious that's not going to take much longer to reach, so I have suggested we try for twice (or even three times) that to really help Clarke.

I think he has enough friends, former co-workers, and other industry acquaintances for us to that. Even if you only remember him from hearing him on the air, how about tossing a few bucks in?

Looks like this finished up with around $25,000 for him.

Wow, it looks like maybe the internet can be used for something good after all!

What a great response from brothers and sisters in the industry and from others who just want to help someone in need.

Well, Clarke is a friend, not just from radio, but from his television history work.

I have done extensive reworking of his DuMont Network website for him over the past several years, and collaborated with him to launch the History of UHF Television site last Christmas.

He's a great guy who has fallen on hard times just as his health started failing. He's not out of the proverbial woods yet but at least he's back on his feet.

I am saddened to report that the money raised in October only managed to take care of Clarke's property taxes and some past due financial obligations and so the GoFundMe page has been reactivated.

He is still pretty much confined to home, and his vision continues to deteriorate. I really don't want to share much in the way of details beyond what he has already made known.

Please spread the word about this and let's make it a Happy New Year for him.
