CLARKSVILLE - HOPKINSVILLE

Since the market splits between two states, i'll ask here too. A buddy want some help with his station there. Any thoughts on the market?

When I was working at WDXN in Clarksville, we were bought out by new owners, who also were in the process of acquiring the former WTWL in McKinnon, TN. Because of that, they tried to focus their marketing and ad sales in the area just west of Clarksville. But that area was just too rural, and it just didn't work. Subsequent owners of WDXN more wisely focused their efforts to the north of Clarksville, in the Fort Campbell/Hopkinsville area. Since they already also owned Q-108, this was just a much more natural move for them.

This is a strange area, because they are easily large enough to be their own media market (and they are), but they are still so close to Nashville that they are still well within the Nashville media footprint.
