Sad that a listener supported Rock format can't be substained in Cincinnati but we were lucky to have them for as long as we did. I still think a WNKU like AAA would be successful if it were tried again. I wish Bill Spry luck with the new format.
Was this a standard-issue tried-and-true classic rock format or an attempt to make Sirius XM's deep and largely obscure Deep Tracks format work at a listener-supported noncommercial FM? Any idea what the new format might be? Does Cincinnati have any significant format holes that large numbers of potential listeners might be willing to help Mr. Spry fill via their donations?
We gave it our best 13 years! Was fun! We were not trying to emulate anyone. Was my own craft. I enjoyed it. The new format is Classic Christian and man, am I ever excited. Going back to my roots. A format that has been on my mind for several years and 6 months in the making. We signed back on Easter morning at Sunrise. TouchFM. Classic Christian. radiotouchfm.com.
Unless you're going to get the support from 1 million loyal listeners like K Love has contributing $60 a month it's going to be a small niche audience. We already have 4 Christian stations all after that pie. It's going to be a tough nut to crack.
Apparently WKCX 89.1 has been sold to another religious broadcaster so that leaves out the southern part of Northern KY hearing the return on ClassX. It's currently broadcasting Touch FM
