Remember when consolidation was supposed to bring us "more choice?"
I didn't know at the time they meant "premium choice."

Wasn't that Karen Williams that used to work for SMN's Starstation that was on this morning?
And why is Clear Channel picking on the little group broadcasting company (KCCL 92.1) with this format instead of going after CBS's KSFM 102.5 with some type of Urban AC?
What a bully company! 93.1 is playing some 60's music too.

You are absolutely right. Despite what was on the press release that the music will represent the 70's & 80's there is a sprinkling of 60's. In fact the music playlist is almost identical to KCCL-92.1. Very Eerie. KSEG-96.9 doesn't have anything to worry about as the New Classic 93.1 is Classic Hits and not Classic Rock as there is a mix of Rock, Pop and R&B. And what Rock Music that is being played is the Heavily Edited Family Friendly Version. Today they played the Shorter Version of The Moody Blues KNIGHTS IN WHITE SATIN and the Clean Version Of Dire Straits MONEY FOR NOTHING (editing the infamous lines with the word F*GGOT). The Eagle plays the longer cuts. This station is not quite like ARROW as I don't recall ARROW playing any R&B, but I could be wrong, but this station does remind me of the Classic Hits Station from the Bay Area called KBGG-"K-BIG 98.1" San Francisco.RadioStarOne said:Wow! If they were to go after KSFM, wouldn't they have gone either URBAN CONTEMPORARY or RHYTHMIC TOP 40 since isn't that the format of KSFM, Not URBAN AC? I think URBAN AC would be too close to their R&B and OLD SCHOOL STATION, KHYL-V101.1? What CC should have done was to go Alternative Rock and pick up the audience that Entercom abandoned.RadioStarOne said:And why is Clear Channel picking on the little group broadcasting company (KCCL 92.1) with this format instead of going after CBS's KSFM 102.5 with some type of Urban AC?

That's why one company shouldn't own 1,200 stations....can't keep them all straight. With all their repurposing, premium choice or whatever, I'm surprised you didn't accidently hear "103.3, KLOU St. Louis".raydioheadfm said:All is not right....at 12 midnight Thursday night/Friday morning, on the stream (don' t know about over air) the station ID'd as "MY 92.5, KGBY, Sacramento"
Unfortunately companies like this has existed for many years and have always used that type of tactic. Remember when Citadel first came in the Modesto-Stockton Market? They created KAT COUNTRY 103 which singlehandidly killed off many country competitors like KMIX-98.3-1390-100.9, KTRB-860, KFMR-100.1, as well as KHOP-104.1 (and later KHKK), killing off KDJK-95.1 and KVFX-96.7. Of course it helped Citadel by acquiring a couple of Class B Monster Signals as well as creative programming. I don't know which signal is stronger, KCCL or KHJQ, but usually the strongest signal wins out. Just like when 96.9 became Classic Rock KSEG- The Eagle. Killed off then Classic Rock, KLCQ-105.5 which had a weaker signal. Those Bully Companies Will Continue To Exist.RadioStarOne said:And why is Clear Channel picking on the little group broadcasting company (KCCL 92.1) with this format instead of going after CBS's KSFM 102.5 with some type of Urban AC?

Comparing the two stations, I do prefer KCCL over KHJQ mainly because of the amount of 60's music played. Both stations play the same 70's music though. And KHJQ plays 80's music that KCCL doesn't play. So far KCCL has played DIRE STRAITS, HUEY LEWIS, BRUCE SPRGSTEEN, JOAN JETT and even THE B-52's. Amazing, CC's new station plays the same music that is also played on their stations like KQJK-93.7 (The Rock 70's & 80's Rock Songs) and KHYL-101.1 (The 70's & 80's R&B Songs). Too much duplication. Not good! And I agree with you regarding The Rivercats Baseball. Doesn't belong on the station.Michael Rivers Kramer said:Madmansam said:Since KHJQ-93.1 seems to be 100% Voice Track, I think if anyone is interested in listening to Classic Hits, to support KCCL- Khits 92.1 since they have Local DJ's. 2 Local "Dj's" two hours each. 6-8 am and 4-6 PM I think they maybe voice tracking that. A friend of mine heard a dead carrier on 92.1 the other day on his way to work during AM Drive before office hours.
They also have excessive minor league baseball that IMO, belongs on an AM station.
The music sounds okay...Listening online is painful unless you like hearing Good-n-Plenty and Oscar Meyer commercials several times an hour.
