classic Casey/AT40 on KOOL

Had no idea this was on KOOL weekends until I heard it on the radio at an appointment Saturday morning. How long has it been on the schedule, and will they continue to air 'best of's'? I haven't been so happy with any local radio programming (not counting KWSS-LP & some of KJZZ/NPR) for a long time - whoever's running things at KOOL is doing an awesome job. Please be sure this note gets to the appropriate party. Thanks. :)

I've been enjoying the old Casey Kasem re-broadcasts. I used to listen to him every Sunday morning; it was a ritual: Turn on "American Top 40," get out the deck of cards and play solitaire while listening to the countdown. His trivia is a lot of the reason why I'm a walking rock encyclopedia and my family and friends are quick to ask me who did such-and-such a song or what year was so-and-so a hit.

And yes, I even play solitaire while listening to the rebroadcasts. Just like old times.

I heard him play John Denver. John Freakin' Denver. I love John Denver. And a song I had never heard on the radio before, either. For all the flak he gets about being Casey Kasem (case in point: the funny clip of him going ballistic over a long distance dedication), very few DJ's really made me *want* to listen for hours - and 40 full-length songs would be for hours - like Casey could.
