Classic Christian program

The topic of classic Christian music shows up here on the board from time to time.
I've been heavily involved with the format for a number of years.

I've just begun producing and distributing a weekly one hour classic CCM program
for a couple of stations. The program, "MUSIC OF NEW LIFE," is released on CD
and features Christian music of the 70s, 80s and 90's primarily, including a lot of
vinyl releases. The music library was purchased from two CCM stations that went through format changes.

MUSIC OF NEW LIFE is airing in Tallahassee, Fla., and Lake Charles, La.

Those days of CCM (early & mid '70s) reached a lot of people including my wife and me. For me it was Ron Salsbury and the J.C. Power Outlet doing an outdoor concert. I remember thinking, "How can this music be so good when it's religious?" I didn't become a Christian at their concert but bought their album and put it on the stack along with Led Zeppelin, Steely Dan, etc. For my wife, Phil Keaggy's first album and Andrae Crouch & the Disciples' Live at Carnegie Hall were her favorites that got her excited about Jesus.

I'd love to hear your program on WXHL-FM 89.1 "Reach FM" Christiana, DE. At this time they are a Top 40 CCM station and the only CCM station in Delaware (they have translators throughout the state and the tri-state area), so a CCM Gold show would be great. If you every succeed getting your program on WXHL, let us know here as I frankly don't listen often to WXHL as I prefer the older praise/CCM music which they never play, so when I want to hear praise or CCM music I use CD's as there aren't any other choices for CCM/praise music on local radio here.

Mike,

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll contact the station and see if they have any interest. As of today the
show is on 4 stations. It's on in Tallahassee, FL; Lancaster/Thousand Oaks, CA; and Lake Charles, LA.

I'm planning to get it on a Free-to-Air satellite and streaming service sometime in the next few months.
The process is underway and looks encouraging.

I started in Christian radio in 1983 and loved the music that was out at that time. Until a few days before
landing that job, I'd never even heard of CCM..

This show started under a different name on a Christian station back in 1997, where it ran successfully as
a Saturday afternoon specialty show for several years, until the station flipped to EWTN under a time brokerage agreement. I purchased the entire CCM library from them (a LONG story) and also got several hundred albums from a CCM station in a neighboring state.

The playlists are posted online at

as is a little but about myself, my testimony, and a little about the program.

There's no sales pitch there..since except for flagship Musicbox1610, all the stations we're on are non-comms.

Allen I would love to hear that! Is it on KAJN? Whats the lake charles station? I just renewed my live 365 sub and cancelled an xm radio btw ;)

Hey smashed,

It's on KELB 100.5 in Lake Charles. I think that's an LPFM station. Later this year I'm going to place it on one of the free-to-air satellite/streaming services. It's also on out in California.

I have masters of the programs so if you see one you want, just email me and I'll send a copy of it to you on CD.

I recently looked at XM and Sirius and it didn't look like there was much classic CCM there anymore.

May I add a few more requests? Some of these early releases have been transferred to CD by the artists themselves, not by the record companies so it'll take some effort. The more jazz sounding material by Paul Clark, the blue-eyed soul by the recently deceased Roby Duke, Rick Riso & Messenger, Karen Lafferty,
James Vincent (used to play with Chicago back in the '80s), Philip Bailey.

hey mike from delaware. remember wnnn out of salem. great mix of music, ac with chr mixed in.with special programming like star rock with alan wentzell on saturdays. they were the good old days. i understand that the dover station dropped the gospel format and is going more ac and praise and worship. I know you probably cant get it where you at, but it can be heard on the web at wxxy.org.
