Classic Country and more

Not really. I like country, but we have ENOUGH country stations in this area! And I cannot keep the signal as well as I could when the talk radio stuff was on.

Tampa Bay sorely needs funny, original and LOCAL talk show talent. Yes, I realize business decisions played into the 1010am change. But still, it sucks.

I'm listening to Schnitt on 970 in the afternoon. I used to listen to him, pre-Don & Mike. He is ok, but he sure as (BLEEP) is not Don & Mike. My computer station at work is not set up to catch any of the streams, so I am well and screwed when it comes to hearing them at work.

So that's my .02

Re: David Alan Coe is on tour now...

I'll take salt and pepper and catsup with my ample serving of crow... My gross error. It was Johnny Paycheck that assumed room temp. not DAC. Very similar types of entertainers, and both known for playing at Daytona biker bars....Ill listen to 24 hours of "the perfect country and western song".....It was that I could do, to keep from crying....sometimes.......

Re: David Alan Coe is on tour now...

I have a house in Ormond Beach, and he's my neighbor. (He's got the only house in the neighborhood with a fence around it, and a tour bus in the front yard.)

I'm glad to hear that he's alive since we waved at each other a few weeks ago when I drove past his place. I don't make it a habit to wave at corpses because they are usually not polite enough to wave back.

Last time I was in Ormond Beach, there were lots of corpses driving around... lol

I haven't had the pleasure of seeing him live, but my friends saw him in Pine Bluff, Arkansas back in the 80's and they said he did an incredible version of Prince's "Purple Rain" that just blew them away. Next time you see him, wave hi for me please!

I noticed on the "Country" board that CBSInfinityViacom Radio has flipped several other "troubled" AMs to Classic Country. In Memphis on a good signal on WMC and in Buffalo. The Memphis station is fully staffed with live DJs 24/7.

WRONG!!

WMC 79 in Memphis has only a live morning show. The rest if Jones Classic County Hits.

1010 signal

I could be wrong since I'm working on educated speculation, but that 1010 was a daytimer for eons when it was WINQ...The night pattern and possibly upgrade on the daytime signal as well (again, educated speculation), was turned on when Woody Sudbrink owned the station and it was Religious WCBF...Sudbrink I believe was more concerned with skywave for the preachers who bought time and not necessarily how well the station did locally for ratings. Once again, educated speculation

Yeah, I think they had old W-101 jocks on there, or at least that's what Billboard or some other trade said..Didn't last for too long and they were simulcasting 100.7--again, I think....

There's actually a book about WDAE, written when the station turned 50 (71)...It circulates in quite a few of Florida's libraries, it was at my library in UF and here in Miami at one of my local libraries as well. Florida's first radio station.
