Classic Country comes back to Colorado Springs

Actually, KCCY 1350 is a Pueblo station. I lived in Colorado Springs in the late 80s, and Pueblo's AM 1350 was only receivable on a good AM radio in Colorado Springs. My Emerson alarm clock radio could not pick up AM 1350 at all.

First of all, hi, Ivan! Long time, no see. Hope you've been well.

Secondly, yes, you're correct. 1350 has always been a Pueblo station. 96.9 was also technically a Pueblo station, though it was definitely targeting Colorado Springs when I spent the summer of '01 there. I'm not sure when it started going after Colorado Springs, but I believe it moved to the tower west of town sometime after 1990. KDZA-FM, I understand, is in that area, too, now, but I remember it as having a choppy signal in the Springs in '01.

I noticed my old friend Tom Travis was doing afternoons on KCCY 1350 (and this wouldn't be unusual as he appears on several of Clear Channel's country stations). I believe he's OM/PD of their Oklahoma City stations. I knew him when he was afternoons at KKIX "Kix 104" in Fayetteville/Springdale, AR almost 20 years ago. I know it's hard for some on these boards to believe, but he always thought of me as quite a pain when he worked for Noalmark in Northwest Arkansas!
