CLASSIC COUNTRY IN AUSTIN?

What station in Austin is said to be giving classic country a serious thought, based on the continuing success of K-VET's Saturday morning show?

I'd love to see a KKYX-type AM station here. It would really take me back!

Maybe CC is looking at it for The River? There has been speculation here that they're ripe for a flip ... and CC already owns the other 2 country stations. Would be similar to Cox's setup in Houston, where they own 93Q and the classic country station.

I wouldn't expect Clear Channel would flip The River to classic country. For all practical purposes, KVET is already doing a classic country format. You don't really hear much in way of new stuff when you tune into 98.1!

You can pick up KKYX i've picked it up pretty good in parts of town I wish we had a station like KONO

The River has lost it's way. You hear Christian-style pop and then Kelly Clarkson's ''Miss Independence.'' Not sure what they're trying to do here.

I'll second that...during the day, my Miata can pick up both as far north as Lakeline Mall.

i go for a classic country station, one thing i don't like too much about kkyx is news every 30 min and lots of traffic reports and commericials. music is ok , kono is ok. and a good classic rock hits station. like the hawk in the 90's.
