Piggybacking off of the previous post, as many cities now have an urban or rhythmic that plays songs from back in the day, do we call it Classics or Throwbacks?
Here in ATL, OG 97.9 uses “Classic Hip Hop” in their positioner along with others like YO 107.1 and YO 100.5.
IMO i would think that songs from the 80s-mid 90s would be classics, while late 90s - mid 00s would be throwbacks.
