Classic Hits 103.7

I've found that my time spent listening to FM is very brief. The over processing is likely why. Then again, I may have the attention span of a flea.
Unless I'm listening to KCBS, and it's only the AM that keeps me for more than a few minutes.

I’m a KOSF listener when I’m in San Francisco (on a monthly basis). I actually really started to like the overall presentation of 103.7, and started streaming it from my office on a regular basis. I’m current in the Vancouver BC market, where no other local radio station appeals to me whatsoever.

I hope they don’t make too many changes. I noticed that the station started to sound a bit different the past week or so, but didn’t notice anything too out of the ordinary. I listen because I find their mixture of music very palatable. Obviously, there’s only so much variety you can expect when you listen to the radio, but I really appreciate that I hear some songs that I wouldn’t normally get exposed to on other radio stations. For example, I know that KOSF plays the extended version of “Tainted love/Where did our love go?” by Soft Cell (which is by far the superior version). Also, they I’ve heard them play “Gloria” by Laura Brannigan. Another good song that seems to get ignored.

A quick comment on “adult hits”: I’m 30, so that probably puts me in the demo of an “adult hits” radio station that wants to skew a bit younger. I’ve never really enjoyed listening to an adult hits programmed radio station though. I enjoy a little variety of the 1990’s, but I really don’t want to hear newer tracks. I do listen to KRTH when my business trips bring me to Los Angeles (and honestly, I do enjoy the presentation of KRTH). The one issue I have with it as that it skews a bit too new at times. Playing pop tracks by groups like “Fun.” equates to a channel flip for me. I’ve heard them play Hozier as well. Again, that’s probably a channel flip. But I do understand their approach, which is to curate a few modern songs that also fit in with the core songs from the 80’s that everyone universally loves. They do it pretty infrequently, so it doesn’t really push me away, and I like the rest of their programming in general.

They air airing the default 1980 'A' show on tonight's AT40 the 80s. Ricci would have certainly gone with the 1987 alternate 'B' show.
