I've always like WHTT's "classic hits" format, as many other markets lack an outlet for the great hits of the 60s/70s/80s. However, it seems like they lean a little too much toward a handful of specific genres per decade. Widening up the playlist would certainly lead to increased listenership. Including hits from 1960-1964 esp those that were featured in movie soundtracks. Also their programming (esp the 70s era) seems to focus too much on a handful of artists. (The Bee Gees, Fleetwood Mac, James Taylor etc). Adding such lost but not forgotten tracks like," Skylark's "Wildflower", Starland Vocal Band's "Afternoon Delight", Paul Davis' "I Go Crazy", or Anne Murray's "Danny's Song", and adding in some of the other easy-listening classics from The Carpenters, Bread, Al Stewart, Barry Manilow, Crystal Gayle, Firefall, and Cliff Richard. The 80s section of the playlist sounds good but again could use a few lost classics like Bertie Higgins "Key Largo", The Pointer Sisters' "Automatic", or Gino Vanelli's "Living Inside Myself"....WHTT has a winner with the "classic hits" format, but more additions to the playlist equals less repeating.
