Classic Hits 105.5 K-Jewel

Ever heard of Kpfa Berkley they have a staff of marketing sales people to get their underwriters as well as many NPR affiliates last time I checked that was not illlegal .. go figure they have bills to pay!!

You picked a mighty poor example. KPFA is an example of bizarre management and inability to sustain its operation.

At non-commercial stations, those who seek underwriting and donations are called "fundraisers" and not marketers or sellers.

I noticed more 70s & 80s songs being added each day to KJWL 105.5 that are not played here now, maybe there's a light in the tunnel for this station.

KPFA in Berkeley does NOT have underwriting at all. The non-profit that owns it, the Pacifica Foundation is teetering on non-existence, as it just had its' Chief Financial Officer resign, their Auditor has fired them (they are two to three years behind in doing their audits and face a loss of their non-profit status), and a struggling with million of dollars in debt, and no cash on hand, and bylaws that make selling or swapping any of their licenses or properties difficult, expensive and near impossible. The local station that rebroadcasts some of KPFA's programming (KFCF 88.1 FM, Fresno ) is NOT owned by Pacifica and has been experimenting with underwriting. KVPR, the local NPR station does underwriting with paid staff to solicit underwriting. , The CSU,Fresno station (KFSR). KFSR is doing very little underwriting as they have no staff to solicit underwriting. Radio Bilingue has corporate/Foundation underwriting and grants as their main income model. KUFW, The United Farm Workers station in Woodlake/Visalia was fined $125K and has a consent agreement because they were caught running advertisements in the guise of underwriting. Jesuscasters KDUV and KARM both solicit business underwriting. EMF's K-LOVE stations, form what I can tell do not have underwriting, but will co-sponsor events. I don't know what the policies of the various low-power FMs in the Valley are, but I've heard that some may be running commercials as underwriting.

I noticed the same. Some interesting 80's showing up. What started out pretty soft is now mixing it up. You notice that they're using the same exit from the news as on KYNO? Hum....

Years ago, I launched a station that looked great on paper and even when we ran the clock off-air. After flipping the switch and listening in my car, I realized the need to tweak the format. Sorta, can't see the forest for the tree's, you know?

Hard to judge the format of any station in the first weeks. Unfortunate though, given first impressions can be lasting impressions.

Still not liking KZLA. Although, it is interesting that we have a couple LA call letters being recycled in this market. I suppose that's going to make for an interesting Wikipedia?

I agree with you the music is all over the place the audio quality sounds muddy not clear and crisp .. on the other hand I have been listening to 99.7 wow the music just keeps getting better I finally heard John Lee Walkers voice on a station promo . I met him he’s a nice guy and the boss there I guess waiting for them to go live I wonder when

Sorry to say this station is the worst version of classic hits, I heard sooo many repeats in and actually sooo few artists I heard Elton John Island girl, and Neil Diamond Heart Land 5 times in the last 2 days, maybe beginning stages of a new format, next thing because they own the Fox , No music that is any kind rock not played, No Eagles, Fleetwood mac, REO Speedwagon, No Journey, Styx, Night ranger I can go Forever, this station is no KRTH Classic Hits in LA. So Sorry this station sucks.it will continue to get a 1.0 in the ratings.
Their trying to get an LA sound on a Fresno Budget

KJWL is more of a “Greatest Hits for the Office”? Yep, we could use KRTH here. Now, that is a great station. But it’s too up for a Fresno office.

I caught about 15 minutes of the Fake translator today before it died on Ave 9 and it sounded more like KYNO than anything. My curiosity for that signal is dead. Time to move on.

Anyone checked out KCSN now that they’ve brought on ex-Sound personalities? It’s what KMET or the real KKDJ (not the imposter) could have become if left alone to survive in 2018. Throw out the hot clock for the sake of music. How original. There is hope.

You really should check out kkdj99.7 John Lee Walker is the owner and the music is really good

Anyone catch White doing his Don St. John (sorry Jeff Riedel) this afternoon?

Yes I listened on Saturday and Sunday heard several people on air live all sounded very professional much more so than some of the other stations . Liners are cleaver and well produced .. now I heard John Lee Walker ex Kyno jock is going live starting 420 this Friday I wonder if the rest of the programming will be live. Music is really great very few repeats sounds like a major market station . I noticed the signal on 99.7 is limited I can get it all over Fresno ,Clovis Madera then when I was driving the152 to sf I heard it loud and clear on 94.7 that what they said on air and it is true. Great station wish they had more power

Ok, the music has changed. Was going back 'm forth between KRTH and KJWL today. You are getting closer John - keep tweaking the format. Actually, very listenable. Need something for those of us who need an extra decade or two beyond KYNO.
