KIOI's standing is well secured. Their 3-book average for 25 to 49 makes them #3. Can't touch that with an oldies format.

who said? it was done in New York... 8)

In the last 5 books CBS-FM, in 25-54, has been 7th, 7th, 5th, 7th and 9th (July to November 5 books). So far for December (2nd week of November to 11 diays into December is Arbitron's December) they are 10th. That is not the same as 3rd.

In Women 25-54, it's even worse: 15th, 15th, 15th 17th, 15th and 3 weeks into the December book, is 16th. That's 6 books around 15th or below in the most important half of the sales demos.

If you go 25-49 instead of 25-54, the rank is even lower by several postions... 12th in November, for example.

If nothing else, KYCY's current pod-cast format adds some variety and content to the local radio scene...for the few hundred people that are listening, anyway. Going to all the trouble to re-format 1550 just to get a few hundred more listeners seems like a waste of time to me.

Even Saul's format was a copy of his LA station (at the time). I wouldn't be surprised if he had a separate computer set up in his compound in Westwood with songs, promos, and commercials hooked up to a satellite or phone line directly to the transmitter in Concord.
