Classic Hits Now on 102.1

FOX FM, consisting of several FM translators throughout middle Georgia, is now on 102.1 in the Atlanta market. The format is Classic Hits, meaning the updated version of what used to be the Oldies format. The primary Atlanta carrier is WWPW-HD4.

FOX FM is owned by Murray Broadcasting out of Macon. I believe it's programmed by Kevin Steele.

Where is W271CV’s tower? It looks to be somewhere near Lawrenceville Highway and Jimmy Carter over near the Gwinnett/DeKalb border.

It sounds like 80% is 80s hits. The Classic Sound of Star94 on HD2/100.9FM is a much better Classic Hits station in my opinion. They play a lot more 70s hits including disco (The Bee Gees, Barry White, Earth, Wind & Fire, etc).

Good signal into Spaghetti Junction area.
Jingles sound good. Processing sounds good.
Automation sounds good.
Why would anybody listen to this station in...Atlanta Georgia?
I predict they'll flip to Hip Hop / Urban in 6 months.

They simulcast with FM translators in Griffin and Manchester, which they sell in combo with 92.5 The Bear. Then they have translators in Macon and Warner Robins with the exact same programming that they sell to advertisers in that area. So Atlanta is just an addition, and they've been happy with how they're doing on the other signals.

I also like the Star HD-2 music mix, but are they still on the 100.9 signal? I didn't think they were, but maybe they are. That signal covers Roswell, Kennesaw, Woodstock, Canton. You can also get WSTR HD-2 on Alexa.

The CP shows it moving from the Atlanta Metro and to Tucker, Lilburn?

I don't believe the station is operating under the CP. They're still strong from Midtown to East Point.

Someone call goodtimesgreatoldies!

The Classic Sound of Star HD-2 format/programming is great, but radio.com keeps dropping the signal on my smart TV.

Music-wise, they seem to be picking up where Star94 and B98.5 left off.
Most of their clients seem to be south of the metro area.
Signal starts to fall apart north of PIB.
Its great to hear John Wetherbee (syndicated weatherman) on there. I worked with him for a short time while at TV46, before he got the royal screw job from Meredith.

I wonder what the fee is that translator owners have to pay HD sub-stations to broadcast their station. i.e. Murray Broadcasting airs FOX-FM on WWPW-HD4.

I can't get 100.9 on the northeast side because of a cochannel Latino gospel 6kW class A (WJES) out of Maysville.

Is 102.1 really running on their CP? All I get is static. According to Radio-Locator and my experience with them I should get more than that if they are really running on their CP. The signal is no better than when they were doing talk with all of the 106.7 alumni.

No, they're on the Chester Ave tower just east of (what is now) Georgia State Stadium. I don't expect them to use that CP.

Try another radio. My patio radio couldn't pick it up at all. But it comes in fine on the car radio.
Is this Westwood's Great American Oldies package? Sort of sounds like it.
Does anybody know?
