Classic Hits or Classic Rock?

There will always be "sheep" that will settle for the least offensive of several bland options.

There are the "snobs" who can never be satisfied.

But what about the person is a little more discriminating and would be happy if he could find a reasonable choice on free radio, but has given up and moved onto alternative entertainment choices.

Radio used to be interested in that market. It has clearly given up on it.

Baaa-Baaa ;D

So basically, if I'm not mistaken, what unplugged is saying is that we should ALL just give up. Forget it, there is nothing that can been done. If that is what unplugged is saying, it sounds like he/she already has given up.

I SHALL NEVER UP!!! Radio is my life, it's in my blood. I have ideas and I want to use them, listeners want to hear them and I shall deliver to every single one of them the most entertaining radio that they could ever imagine.

If you are in radio and feel like giving up, move get out the way so the rest of us can have some fun.

Maybe re-read what I wrote?

My point is that even if you have "the most entertaining radio", then give me your frequency and I'll tune in and check it out. Are you applying your ideas directly or is it just wishful thinking.

I haven't given up on radio, it gave up on me.

It's a challenge: you get me to listen and enjoy. If you're sitting there making up new index cards and scheduling your next meeting with your consultant, then don't waste my time.
If you think your "great" ratings means you're delivering "entertaining radio", you're probably wrong.

If you are "having fun", then let me in on it. I'd love to hear it.

Yes, save the niche foramts for Satellite and i-pods, but could we use just one of the rock frequencies (Q95, KLU, TTS, and 104.5) for some variety in the Indy market? Regardless of where you want to classify them (Classic Rock, AAA, etc), how many does a market need? I'm starting to wonder if all those in Indy outside of the male 25-54 demo are dying off and we aren't aware of it.

I think the closest you are going to get for that scenario is WTTS.

They seem to walk the line between "familiar" and "source for new music and classic alternative" and still keep the bills paid.
When they pop on Zeppelin, Mellencamp, or the Allmans I usually bail like a big snob, but if they can continue to keep a live staff and keep the lights on, God bless'em.
Probably if they are consistently a #3 or #4 buy with Adults 25-54 or 18-34, they can live off the crumbs of the other stations.
