CLASSIC HITS SUNNY 102

Trying to pretend that they're WSEN??? Hoping to confuse diary writers? Taking a page from Clear Channel's pamphlet "If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullsh*t"?

Well for a number of weeks now they have been a "Classic Hits" station without identifying themselves as such. I guess now they've decided to admit it. How do you's guys think this will work in Syracuse and will it help Sunny? The station has been floundering for months/ years now with depressing ratings...will this change things for the better?

Depending what they sound like, will having a classic hits station hurt TK-99 at all? Might be shooting themselves in the foot.

Actually I don't think positioning themselves as "classic hits" is all that bad an idea...

It could be a good move depending on what Leatherstocking Media does with WSEN-FM

In another thread here it was reported that "everyone was gone at the end of the month" at WSEN....

Although now it's September 1...and Gary Dunes is still fumbling his way through the morning show at 92.1 (my apologies for that statement- he's inoffensive, but I've never been a fan)

Time will tell on this move....

In general, Classic Hits and Classic Rock are different enough that they can coexist. Classic Hits centers on pop hits, not album cuts, and does include songs that are serious turn-offs for Classic Rockers (i.e. "disco"). The sound is also a bit softer, especially if the target is women.

Are some songs common to both formats? Sure, but that can be said of a lot of formats.
